Role Description

The SEDM Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based at Shaily Engineering Plastics Limited in Vadodara. The operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring SEDM (Spark Erosion/EDM or similar precision machining) equipment to manufacture plastic and related components according to production plans and technical specifications.

Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting job drawings, loading and unloading tools and workpieces, adjusting machine parameters, and performing basic measurements and visual checks to ensure product quality.

The role involves following safety procedures, maintaining cleanliness and order around the machine area, reporting deviations or equipment issues to supervisors, and completing production logs or documentation as required.

The SEDM Operator collaborates with the production and quality teams, supports troubleshooting on the shop floor, and contributes to achieving daily production targets.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, measurements, and work instructions, with attention to detail and quality standards.
• Experience in machine operation in a manufacturing or plastics environment; familiarity with SEDM/EDM or similar precision equipment is an advantage.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of tools, fixtures, and safe handling of machinery and materials.
• Willingness to follow safety, housekeeping, and standard operating procedures consistently on the shop floor.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills to identify defects, equipment abnormalities, and process issues.
• Ability to work in shifts, stand for extended periods, and meet production timelines in a team-based environment.
• Prior experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or engineering plastics is beneficial.
• Minimum educational qualification such as ITI, diploma, or equivalent in a technical or industrial discipline preferred.
• Basic communication skills in English and local language for coordination with supervisors and team members.
