Job summary

Layam seeks an experienced Section Head to lead surface treatment, ETP operations, and associated manufacturing activities in Bengaluru. The role requires deep expertise in plating, coating, wastewater treatment, and regulatory compliance, with strong exposure to cold forging processes using horizontal machines.

You will drive safety, quality, cost optimization, and continuous improvement while coordinating across Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and Projects teams.

Qualifications

• 20+ years experience in Production/Maintenance in Surface Treatment, Plating, or related operations.
• Hands-on Zinc Plating, Phosphating, and Industrial Coating experience.
• Knowledge of ETP, ZLD, MEE, MVRE operations; mechanical maintenance skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Surface Treatment operations (Zinc Plating, Phosphating, Industrial Coating).
• Manage ETP, ZLD, MEE, MVRE operations and related utilities.
• Oversee cold forging production using horizontal machines for automotive fasteners/components.
• Ensure production planning, machine uptime, productivity, and target achievement.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.
• Drive Lean, TPM, Kaizen, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teams.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Section Head to lead Surface Treatment, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), and related manufacturing operations. The candidate should have strong expertise in plating, phosphating, industrial coating, wastewater treatment, and environmental compliance, along with experience in cold forging operations using horizontal cold forging machines, preferably in automotive fasteners or automotive components manufacturing.

The role involves managing production and maintenance activities, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining statutory compliance, and driving safety, quality, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Surface Treatment operations, including Zinc Plating, Phosphating, and Industrial Coating.
• Manage Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), MEE, and MVRE operations.
• Oversee cold forging production operations using horizontal cold forging machines, preferably for automotive fasteners and components.
• Ensure smooth machine operations, production planning, productivity improvement, and achievement of manufacturing targets.
• Manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production equipment and horizontal cold forging machines.
• Monitor process parameters, machine performance, tooling conditions, downtime, and rejection rates.
• Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board regulations and statutory environmental requirements.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, water conservation, waste reduction, and energy optimization.
• Ensure EHS compliance, chemical safety, machine safety, and a zero-accident culture.
• Optimize chemical consumption, tooling costs, utilities, and overall operational expenses.
• Lead and develop engineers, supervisors, operators, and technicians.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Projects teams to ensure smooth plant operations.

Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, or
• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 20 years of experience in Production and/or Maintenance within Surface Treatment, Plating, Effluent Treatment, or related manufacturing operations.
• Hands-on experience in Zinc Plating, Phosphating, and Industrial Coating.
• Working knowledge of ETP, ZLD, MEE, and MVRE operations.
• Experience in cold forging operations using horizontal cold forging machines is preferred, particularly in automotive fasteners or automotive components manufacturing.
• Knowledge of machine maintenance, tooling, process optimization, production planning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in Production/Maintenance is mandatory; Quality-only experience will not be considered.
• Strong knowledge of EHS, environmental compliance, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
