The role requires 15-20 years in operations, a mechanical engineering degree, and a track record in Lean/Six Sigma and ERP-driven cost optimization. MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• 15-20 years of experience in Operations or Production Management within Sheet Metal Fabrication and Electroplating manufacturing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• MBA in Operations or Manufacturing Management will be an added advantage.
• Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Operational Excellence are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end operations of Sheet Metal Fabrication and Electroplating plants.
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Optimize manufacturing capacity, productivity, and resource utilization.
• Drive operational excellence through planning and execution.
• Ensure adherence to customer delivery schedules and commitments.
• Coordinate with Production Planning and SCM for material availability.
• Monitor schedules and optimize workflow across processes.

• Oversee CNC Punching, Laser Cutting, Shearing, Bending, Welding, and Assembly.
• Manage electroplating processes and process controls.

• Improve FPY and OEE; reduce defects and waste.
• Lead Lean, TPM, Kaizen, and cost-reduction initiatives.

The Senior Manager / AGM - Operations (Sheet Metal & Electroplating) will be responsible for leading end-to-end manufacturing operations of the Sheet Metal and Electroplating divisions. The role will drive operational excellence by ensuring Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Productivity, and Capacity Utilization while managing production planning, process optimization, quality improvement, maintenance coordination, manpower development, and customer satisfaction. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives and support capacity expansion and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1) Operations Management

• Lead end-to-end operations of Sheet Metal Fabrication and Electroplating plants.
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Optimize manufacturing capacity, productivity, and resource utilization.
• Drive operational excellence through effective planning and execution.
• Ensure adherence to customer delivery schedules and business commitments.

2) Production Planning & Execution

• Coordinate with Production Planning and SCM teams to ensure material availability and production continuity.
• Monitor production schedules and optimize workflow across manufacturing processes.
• Ensure optimum utilization of machines, manpower, and production resources.
• Review production performance and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
• Drive production efficiency through continuous process improvements.

3) Sheet Metal Manufacturing

• Oversee operations involving CNC Punching, Laser Cutting, Shearing, Bending, Welding, Tapping, Grinding, Hardware Insertion, and Assembly.
• Ensure process capability and productivity across sheet metal operations.
• Improve material utilization and reduce process losses.
• Implement process improvements for enhanced throughput and quality.
• Standardize manufacturing processes and work instructions.

4) Electroplating Operations

• Manage Zinc, Nickel, Tin, Copper, Silver, and other electroplating processes as applicable.
• Ensure plating quality meets customer specifications and industry standards.
• Monitor chemical process controls, bath parameters, and line efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, pollution control, and safety regulations.
• Improve plating yield, reduce defects, and optimize chemical consumption.

5) Quality & Customer Satisfaction

• Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.
• Drive reduction in rejection, rework, customer complaints, and process variations.
• Coordinate with Quality teams for audits, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
• Lead customer audit preparedness and closure of audit observations.
• Improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

6) Cost Optimization & Operational Excellence

• Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for productivity improvement and cost reduction.
• Optimize manpower, machine utilization, energy consumption, and process efficiency.
• Monitor operational costs and implement improvement initiatives.
• Lead continuous improvement projects across manufacturing operations.

7) Maintenance & Engineering Coordination

• Coordinate with Maintenance teams to ensure high equipment availability and reliability.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Participate in capacity expansion, machine installation, and automation projects.
• Improve machine uptime and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
• Support digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives where applicable.

8) Team Leadership & People Development

• Lead Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Planning, and Shift teams.
• Develop leadership capabilities within the operations team.
• Conduct performance reviews, technical training, and succession planning.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Build employee engagement and drive operational discipline.

9) MIS & Business Performance

• Monitor operational KPIs including Production, OEE, Productivity, Rejection, OTD, Capacity Utilization, Cost, and Safety.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational MIS reports.
• Present plant performance reviews to senior management.
• Analyze operational trends and implement improvement plans.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

10) Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, EHS regulations, and statutory norms.
• Drive implementation of safety standards, risk assessments, and operational controls.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and manufacturing best practices.
• Support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
• Promote sustainability, environmental compliance, and responsible manufacturing practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• MBA in Operations or Manufacturing Management will be an added advantage.
• Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Operational Excellence are preferred.

Experience Required

• 15-20 years of experience in Operations or Production Management within Sheet Metal Fabrication and Electroplating manufacturing.
• Strong experience in managing large manufacturing teams in multi-process production environments.
• Experience in Electrical Switchgear, Engineering Components, Automotive, Industrial Equipment, or Precision Manufacturing industries.
• Proven track record in production planning, process optimization, quality improvement, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
• Exposure to SAP/ERP systems and modern manufacturing practices.
