1. Position Summary
The Assistant Manage Production will be responsible for planning, leading, and controlling all electroplating production activities to achieve production targets, customer quality requirements, cost objectives, and delivery commitments. The role involves managing production teams, optimizing electroplating processes, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational excellence.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Planning & Execution
- Lead daily, weekly, and monthly production planning to meet customer delivery schedules.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, chemicals, and production resources.
- Monitor shift-wise production performance and achieve planned production targets.
- Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Quality, and Maintenance departments for smooth production flow.
- Ensure timely availability of materials, chemicals, jigs, fixtures, and consumables.
B. Process Control & Improvement
- Monitor and control electroplating process parameters including pH, temperature, chemical concentration, current density, plating thickness, and surface finish.
- Ensure consistent product quality by maintaining plating bath chemistry and process capability.
- Analyze production losses, rejection trends, and downtime, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce cycle time, and optimize chemical consumption.
- Lead new product trials, process validation, and process standardization.
C. Quality Management
- Ensure products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Minimize internal rejection, customer complaints, and rework through effective process control.
- Support root cause analysis using quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for audits and customer quality requirements.
D. Cost Control & Inventory Management
- Monitor material, chemical, and consumable consumption against standard norms.
- Optimize plating chemical usage and reduce process wastage.
- Ensure accurate inventory control of chemicals, consumables, and WIP.
- Improve productivity while controlling manufacturing costs.
E. Team Management
- Lead, guide, and develop production engineers, supervisors, and operators.
- Allocate manpower effectively to maximize productivity.
- Conduct skill development and technical training for production teams.
- Build a culture of ownership, discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
F. Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure high equipment availability and minimum downtime.
- Participate in equipment improvement and automation initiatives.
G. Safety, Environment & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS guidelines while handling hazardous chemicals.
- Maintain compliance with Pollution Control Board norms and environmental regulations.
- Drive implementation of 5S, Kaizen, Visual Management, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Ensure safe working conditions and conduct regular safety audits.
H. MIS & Reporting
- Review daily production reports, efficiency, rejection, downtime, and OEE.
- Present production performance, KPI status, and improvement plans to Plant Head and Management.
- Ensure timely and accurate ERP/SAP transaction entries.
- Track departmental KPIs and initiate corrective actions where required.
3. Required Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Zinc, Nickel, Chrome, Tin, and other electroplating processes.
- Expertise in plating bath chemistry and process parameter control.
- Knowledge of rectifiers, filtration systems, dosing systems, and wastewater treatment.
- Understanding of plating quality standards, coating thickness measurement, and testing methods.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, OEE, and Six Sigma concepts.
- Working knowledge of ERP/SAP.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
4. Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Chemical, Production, Metallurgy, or Industrial Engineering.
- Diploma holders with significant relevant experience may also be considered.
