Job summary

Adani Group is seeking a Senior Logistics/Distribution professional to orchestrate end-to-end secondary logistics for cement products in India. You will forecast demand, plan capacity, and coordinate fleet, warehouses, and staffing to ensure timely, cost-efficient deliveries.

You will collaborate with sales and plant teams, monitor key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement using TMS and GPS visibility. A strong background in logistics and Six Sigma is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA in operations, logistics, or business management.
  • 6+ years in logistics or supply chain, with transportation/distribution focus.
  • Knowledge of logistics software and transportation regulations necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast demand and plan capacity across fleet and warehouses.
  • Develop and execute cost-effective cement logistics strategies.
  • Approve deliveries based on truck availability and create shipments.

Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • The Secondary Logistics is tasked with orchestrating the end-to-end secondary logistics processes, focusing on the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of cement product deliveries.
  • This role is pivotal in ensuring that the distribution of products from manufacturing plants to customers is conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and within the highest standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Logistics Planning: - Forecast demand and plan logistics capacity, accordingly, including fleet size, warehouse space, and staffing levels, to handle peak periods and growth projections.
  • - Execute a comprehensive logistics strategy that ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of cement products.
  • - Approve delivery orders based on truck availability and create shipments to manage inventory effectively.
  • Coordination for Efficient Operations: - Coordinate with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM)/ Area Sales Managers (ASMs) to ensure timely dispatches of orders.
  • - Collaborate with packing plant personnel and security teams to ensure smooth placement and movement of trucks, avoiding bottlenecks and delays.
  • - Work closely with road coordinators and Plant Logistics Heads to facilitate faster order execution and resolve any logistical challenges that arise.
  • Reporting and Communication: - Track and maintain logistics KPIs such as Order Execution Time (OET), Turnaround Time (TAT), and On-Time Delivery (OTD) to measure and report on operational efficiency.
  • - Prepare and submit shift-wise Management Information System (MIS) reports detailing logistics performance to the Secondary Logistics Head.
  • - Ensure effective communication during shift handover/takeover, including proper allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Customer Service and Satisfaction: - Liaise with customers/dealers to provide updates on order status and address any delivery-related inquiries or concerns.
  • - Enhance customer satisfaction by ensuring the safe and punctual delivery of cement products.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: - Conduct risk assessments of the logistics network to identify vulnerabilities and implement risk mitigation strategies, including insurance and compliance with industry regulations.
  • - Stay abreast of changes in transportation laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations, ensuring that all logistics activities are fully compliant.
  • Technology Integration: - Utilize logistics software and technology to streamline operations, such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking for real-time visibility of shipments.
  • Ethical Standards - Use ethical reasoning to guide decisions, considering the broader impact on the organization and stakeholders.
  • - Ensure all communications, both verbal and written, reflect the organization’s commitment to integrity and ethics.
  • Policy Adherence and Development - Implement and enforce organizational policies to maintain consistency and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • - Contribute to policy development by providing feedback and insights from departmental operations.
  • Organizational Skills - Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of departmental objectives and projects.

Qualifications and Experience
