Job description

Overview

Maersk Line seeks qualified experienced seafarers for container vessel engineering positions. The role provides opportunities to advance technical competencies on advanced vessels and influence efficiency and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineer room watch-keeping duties when required.
• Maintain all machinery on deck and in the engine room as per PMS and directives from the Chief Engineer.
• Manage stores, spares, lubricants, and chemicals, monitoring consumption, inventory and deliveries.
• Act as Environmental Officer to meet ISO14001 standards, develop objectives, train personnel and maintain records.
• Keep the engine room orderly and clean.
• Instruct and supervise crew on safety, environmental protection, firefighting, first aid and lifesaving equipment.
• Prepare and monitor work plans for engineers and engine ratings; manage work/rest hour scheduling to meet regulations.
• Ensure compliance with rest hour requirements to avoid fatigue.
• Motivate crew and foster a safe working environment, optimizing resource use.
• Use least hazardous chemicals and ensure safe handling.
• Issue clear and concise orders and instructions.
• Facilitate briefing and debriefing for efficient teamwork.
• Train supervised personnel covering orientation, health and safety, environmental protection, procedural use, equipment handling, and standard maintenance.
• Develop skills and confidence of junior members.

Qualifications

Minimum 12‑month Rank Experience on a vessel with a minimum of 20,000BHP capacity – preferably ME/RT Flex.

Experience in engineering responsibilities as described above.
