Job summary

Siemens in Thane, India seeks an experienced Import & Local Procurement specialist to manage end-to-end PO lifecycle for imported components. You will handle international trade terms, customs compliance and documentation, and coordinate with suppliers and logistics to optimize delivery times and costs.

Responsibilities include using SAP MM for PO creation and goods receipt, updating MRP parameters for imported stock, and leveraging Power BI/Power Apps to monitor performance and drive cost

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE in Mechanical, Electrical, Production or Electronics with 3–5 years in manufacturing operations.
• Experience in procurement and import tracking with SAP master data management.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP MM, PO creation, GR, and MRP for imported items.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Import & Local Procurement & Order Management
• Generate and review material requirements (e.g., from MRP outputs in SAP) to identify needs for international stock parts.
• Create and issue purchase orders (POs) for imported components and materials, ensuring accuracy in quantity, delivery dates, pricing, and international trade terms (Incoterms).
• Manage the entire PO lifecycle for import orders, from creation to final delivery and customs clearance.
• Import & Customs Compliance:
• Act as the primary point of contact for all import-related activities for assigned materials.
• Ensure strict compliance with all relevant import regulations, customs laws, and trade agreements (e.g., HS codes, duties, tariffs, country of origin rules).
• Prepare, review, and manage all necessary import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, customs declarations).
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to facilitate smooth and timely customs clearance and delivery.
• Proactively resolve any customs-related issues, delays, or discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in international trade policies and customs regulations.
• Supplier Follow-up & Expediting (International & Local supplier)
• Diligently track and expedite open purchase orders with international suppliers, considering transit times and customs processing.
• Communicate regularly with overseas suppliers to confirm production schedules, shipping details, and resolve potential delays.
• Manage logistics and shipping arrangements for imported goods, optimizing for cost and delivery time.
• SAP & Inventory Management:
• Utilize SAP MM (Materials Management) module extensively for PO creation, goods receipt, and managing import-related data.
• Monitor and update MRP parameters in SAP (e.g., lead times, safety stock) specifically for imported parts, factoring in international shipping and customs lead times.
• Collaborate with Production Planning and Warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels for imported stock, minimizing stockouts and excess.
• Cost Management & Optimization:
• Identify opportunities to optimize total landed cost for imported materials, including freight, duties, and handling charges.
• Support negotiation efforts with suppliers and logistics providers for favorable terms.
• Ensure accurate recording of import costs in SAP.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in their field of work and qualification.
• Impact (Problem Solving & Forward looking approach)
• Diploma or BE - Mechanical / Electrical / Production /Electronics with minimum 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing environment in a Operational procurement function
• "Both advanced practical and theoretical understanding and some significant advanced hands on experience is required to oversee and manage the diverse and relatively complex tasks in the related field of work."
• Required Skills: Advanced proficiency in Import tracking, and MRP functionalities, and managing customs -specific data
• Learning attitude is a MUST.
• Experience with SAP master data management
