Job summary

Archroma Group is seeking an experienced R&D Scientist for the new Centre of Innovation (COI) Flexible Packaging in Mumbai. The role focuses on hot melt adhesive development, formulation, and performance evaluation, reporting to the Global Head of R&D Flexible Packaging.

Ideal candidates hold MSc in Organic/Polymer Chemistry or MTech in Polymer/Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience, with industrial exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• MSc in Organic/Polymer Chemistry or MSc in a related field with strong emphasis on polymers.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in hot melt adhesives and polymer chemistry.
• Industrial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop hot melt and PSA hot melt adhesives for new products and select optimum product/process.
• Understand raw materials, suppliers, qualifications, and comparisons.
• Characterize products, apply on substrates, and evaluate performance per SOP/ISO standards.
• Optimize processes and scale up from lab to production with robust lab processes.
• Troubleshoot results, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions for consistency.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and safety per internal guidelines and international standards.

Job description

Allocated to our Packaging Technology organization, we are looking for a highly motivated and proactive team member in the function of R&D Scientist for the new Centre of Innovation (COI) Flexible Packaging

The R&D Scientist position for the new COI Flexible Packaging is a newly created role and will be based in Mumbai. The role reports to the Global Head of R&D Flexible Packaging. This position responsible for hot melt related activity.

Responsibilities

• Expertise on development of hot melt and PSA hot melt adhesive for the new products, selecting the optimum product, process, and composition.
• Understand of raw material, its equivalent supplier, their qualifications and comparisons
• Product characterization, application on different substrates and performance evaluation following standard test methods/SOP. in compliance with internal guidelines and ISO standards. Accurate documentation of all experimental results.
• Process optimization and scaling-up. Identifying inefficiencies, implementing improvements, and developing robust lab processes for a seamless transition from lab scale to full-scale production. Collaborating with process engineers to ensure smooth production scale-up process.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving. Analysis of experimental results and identification of the root cause for product and/or performance deviations. Implementation of corrective actions to ensure reproducible results, quality, and performance.
• Regulatory compliance and safety. Strict adherence to all internal guidelines, policies, and processes, as well as international standards and regulatory frameworks.

Profile:
