Job summary

Momentive Performance Materials in Bengaluru is seeking a curious chemist to translate learning from incumbent technology into new solutions that demonstrate performance benefits. You'll work with scientists to plan and execute laboratory experiments evaluating product concepts.

The role emphasizes developing and documenting work for stakeholders, providing data for SDS and regulatory documents, and supporting safety initiatives while collaborating in a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry/polymer technology with 0–2 years of experience in organic or polymer chemistry.
• Experience handling polymer/organic synthesis procedures safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency with characterization techniques like NMR, GC, FTIR is advantageous.
• Ability to independently perform and coordinate testing, interpret results, and present analyses.
• Strong integrity, communication skills, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Role & responsibilities

• Gather brief understanding of incumbent technology and explore opportunities to translate learning towards development of new solutions demonstrating performance benefits based on Project needs and end applications


• Work with Scientist on planning and execute laboratory work for evaluating new product concepts


• Develop, document and communicate work done to stakeholders


• Supply all technical information and data needed to generate necessary SDS and Regulatory documents


• Contribute to the safety teams and aid in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees

Basic Qualifications

• Master in chemistry/polymer technology With 0-2 years of experience in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry or equivalent


• Experience in handling polymer/organic synthesis procedures in a safe & efficient manner.


• Working knowledge in NMR, GC, FTIR and other characterization techniques would be an added advantage


• Ability to independently perform and co-ordinate testing, interpret results and draw analysis


• High standard of integrity and behaves in a fair and ethical manner


• Good communication skills


• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred candidate profile

• Exposure to silicone chemistry in a whole.


• Good interpersonal skills for interactions with matrix global stakeholders.


• Self-motivated individual with good level of creativity, technical curiosity and strong team spirit


• Use of basic statistical tools to provide clear understanding to experimental results.
