Job summary

PeopleStrong Pune seeks lab staff in the Laboratory Medicine department to handle sample collection, labeling, and processing according to protocol. You will generate barcodes, maintain registers, and communicate any irregularities to supervisors.

Daily lab hygiene and equipment upkeep are essential, along with proper waste disposal. Role requires accurate documentation, proper sample handling, and adherence to hospital SOPs.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills to interact with team and patients.
• Understanding of pathology workflows and sample handling.
• Ability to follow protocol and maintain lab hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Collect/accept samples for various tests in appropriate containers as per protocol.
• Check sample volume and note any issues in the rejection register after informing supervisor.
• Accurate labeling of samples and timely processing as per protocol.
• Receive IP samples, generate barcodes, and maintain proper documentation.
• Inform supervisors of abnormal results prior to retesting.
• Ensure waste is disposed of per hospital SOP and samples are discarded correctly.
• Clean working area after completing tasks and daily equipment maintenance.
• Follow material receiving procedures for ordered items and hand over pending tests to next shift.
• No influence from external factors on testing; maintain integrity of results.

Job Description

Collect/accept samples for various tests in appropriate containers as per protocol.

Check the sample volume and if inappropriate, then to make a note of it in sample rejection register after informing to the Technical Supervisor /Senior Scientific officers

Accurate labeling of the samples.

Timely and correct processing of the samples as per protocol.

To receive IP samples in the lab.

Generate barcodes for the samples

Inform the laboratory technical supervisor/Senior Scientific officers of any abnormal or borderline result prior to repeating the test.

Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste material as per hospital protocol.

Discard samples as per SOP and enter in Sample Discard Sheets.

After finishing work, ensure that the working area is cleaned with proper disinfectant.

Daily maintenance of all the equipment’s in the laboratory

While receiving any ordered material, follow purchase material receiving procedure.

Primary streaking of Microbiology samples as per SOP and routine staining of Microbiology samples as and when required.

Give online over to the next shift and hand over the hard copy of pending test to the next shift.
