One should run rigorous testing — vibration, thermal vacuum, functional, and performance checks — to make sure each satellite can survive the extreme conditions of launch and space.

1. Mechanical Assembly and Integration
  • Assemble satellite structures, panels, brackets, mechanisms, payloads, and subsystems.
  • Integrate mechanical, thermal, and sometimes electrical components into the spacecraft.
  • Install bearings, encoders, fasteners, and flight hardware according to engineering drawings.
  • Perform structural bonding and adhesive operations.
2. Satellite Build Activities
  • Build spacecraft modules and subassemblies.
  • Route and secure harnesses, cables, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Use Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for handling satellite hardware safely.
  • Support final spacecraft integration before environmental testing and launch.
3. Testing and Verification
  • Conduct qualification and acceptance tests.
  • Support vibration, shock, acoustic, thermal-vacuum (TVAC), mass properties, appendage deployment test, propulsion leak check and mechanical load testing.
  • Install test instrumentation and sensors.
  • Verify that the spacecraft meets launch load design and mission requirements.
4. Design of Tooling & Fixtures
  • Developing requirements, designs, and ongoing support for mechanical ground support equipment (GSE), and supporting the management of inventory of tools, GSE, and flight and non-flight spacecraft components.
  • Design, develop and maintain tooling and fixtures required for satellite Assembly & integration.
  • Test Fixtures identification along with designers as per requirements and procuring the same.
5. Quality Assurance and Inspection
  • Perform first-level quality inspections.
  • Verify torque values, alignments, dimensions, and assembly correctness.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and cleanroom procedures.
  • Identify and report non-conformances or hardware issues.
6. Documentation and Reporting
  • Create and maintain assembly records and test reports.
  • Update integration logs and configuration documentation.
  • Follow work instructions, engineering drawings, and procedures.
  • Support preparation of integration and test plans.
7. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
  • Diagnose assembly and integration issues.
  • Support root-cause analysis during testing failures.
  • Work with design, systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to resolve anomalies.
