Job summary

CANPACK Group in Pune, India, seeks an experienced SAP Project Manager to independently plan and execute high-visibility SAP programs. You will partner with business and IT leads to define scope, build plans, and manage risks to deliver expected outcomes.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets and milestones, and ensure quality deliverables while aligning with organizational change management best practices. Global SAP experience and travel readiness are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Business/Management Information Systems/Computer Science preferred).
  • 7+ years project management experience, including 5+ years managing large SAP projects and other complex initiatives.
  • Experience in PMO leadership and guiding project teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Visio and Microsoft Office 365; knowledge of SAP ECC/S4.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage large, complex SAP and cross-functional programs end-to-end.
  • Document objectives, risks, milestones, scope, and deliverables; track progress.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and actuals.
  • Create WBS, define tasks, dependencies, and resource estimates.
  • Communicate status clearly; manage scope changes and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead teams, allocate tasks, facilitate meetings, and drive collaboration.
  • Oversee vendors; ensure service excellence and cost control.
  • Incorporate Organizational Change Management into project scope and plans.
  • Support PMO as a subject matter expert on project management.

Job description

The SAP Project Manager independently plans and carries out significant, complex and highly visible projects to achieve stated business objectives. Responsible for planning and execution of projects and programs from inception to implementation, ensuring delivery of necessary functionality and achievement of project objectives. Partners with business and IT leads to develop the business case, scope the work, build plans, and successfully manage risks and issues to deliver outcomes.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Managing and controlling programs and large projects that are complex, cross-functional and strategic in nature.
  • Documenting and tracking key information such as project objectives, assumptions, issues, risks, milestones, success criteria, and in/out of scope deliverables.
  • Managing project financials including budget, forecast and actuals.
  • Creating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), documenting tasks, identifying dependencies, developing and managing the milestone/task schedule and estimating project labor and non-labor costs.
  • Documenting and tracking key information such as project objectives, assumptions, issues, risks, milestones, success criteria, and in/out of scope deliverables.
  • Managing scope changes, publishing clear and concise status communications, ensuring high-quality deliverables and consistently satisfying expectations and requirements.
  • Motivating and assisting team members, organizing task assignments, facilitating team meetings, negotiating desired outcomes, balancing the needs of Business and IT stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality processes and deliverables.
  • Managing vendors, drive service excellence and control costs.
  • Incorporating organizational change management (OCM) best practices into project scope and schedules as needed.
  • Recommending solutions to address identified issues or problems.

  • Advocating for the PMO and serving as the subject matter expert on project management.
Our expectations:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar
  • 7+ years project management experience, with 5+ years' experience managing large scale SAP projects as well as other complex projects
  • Experience working in a Project Management Office (PMO) and leading project teams
  • Proficient with MS Project, Visio and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams); knowledgeable in SAP ECC/S4
  • Ability to resolve conflict, negotiate desired outcomes and influence others
  • Strong familiarity with key business processes in the area of Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and Human capital management.
  • Experience working for a global manufacturing organization desirable
  • Working knowledge of SAP FICO module
  • Experience with both on and off-premise hosting solutions
  • Experience with Business Process Improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of Organizational Change Management (OCM) best practices
  • Readiness to travel (5-10%)
  • PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe or equivalent certification; experience with SAP Activate Methodology; Advanced level of competency with various project methodologies including Waterfall, Hybrid and Agile.
Work Timing & Location
  • Office – Pune (Pimple Saudagar), India. Current office presence policy – 3 days/week
  • Typical Working Hours – 9 hrs between 10:30 AM and 9:30 PM IST
