Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced SAP BW/HANA Developer to design and implement scalable analytics solutions across SAP BW on HANA, ABAP in BW, and modern cloud data platforms. You will work with Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Tableau to enable enterprise reporting and analytics.

The role focuses on data modeling, data extraction, and modernization initiatives, with an emphasis on performance tuning and data governance. Strong collaboration with global teams is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10-14 years of SAP BW/HANA development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in SAP BW on HANA data modeling and architecture.
• Experience with SAP NetWeaver BW 7.5 environments.
• Hands-on SAP HANA Modeling and Calculation Views experience.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced SAP BW/HANA Developer with strong expertise in SAP BW on HANA, SAP ABAP in BW, data modeling, and enterprise data warehousing solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable SAP analytics solutions while supporting modern data transformation initiatives involving Azure cloud technologies, advanced analytics, and enterprise reporting platforms. This role offers an exciting opportunity to bridge traditional SAP data warehousing with next-generation cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Tableau while supporting business-critical reporting and analytics requirements.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain SAP BW on HANA data models using SAP NetWeaver 7.5.
• Develop and manage InfoObjects, ADSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, Transformations, DTPs, and BW Queries.
• Build and optimize SAP HANA Calculation Views and other HANA-native modeling artifacts.
• Design and implement scalable LSA and LSA++ architecture-based solutions.
• Develop data extraction frameworks from SAP and non-SAP source systems.
• Create and enhance standard and custom extractors, datasources, and extraction enhancements.
• Develop and maintain SAP ABAP routines including Start Routines, End Routines, Expert Routines, and Field Routines.
• Build, enhance, and support BEx Queries, Workbooks, Calculated Key Figures, and Restricted Key Figures.
• Perform data modeling, data transformation, data validation, and reconciliation activities.
• Collaborate with business users, functional teams, data platform teams, and reporting teams to deliver analytical solutions.
• Support integration of SAP BW data with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other cloud platforms.
• Participate in SAP BW modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Support migration and replication of SAP data into enterprise cloud data platforms.
• Optimize SAP BW and HANA performance through tuning and best-practice implementation.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and compliance across reporting environments.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Prepare technical design documents, data flow documents, and operational support documentation.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support.
• Collaborate with BI teams supporting Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other reporting solutions.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Extensive experience with SAP NetWeaver BW 7.5 environments.
• Strong experience designing and developing ADSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, InfoObjects, Transformations, and DTPs.
• Hands-on experience with SAP HANA Modeling and Calculation Views.
• Expertise in LSA and LSA++ architecture concepts and implementation.
• Strong SAP ABAP development experience within SAP BW environments.
• Experience developing Start Routines, End Routines, Expert Routines, and custom extractor enhancements.
• Strong knowledge of ETL concepts, data integration, and enterprise data warehousing principles.
• Experience extracting and transforming data from SAP and non-SAP source systems.
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA environments, SAP Automotive processes, and extraction logic.
• Experience designing and maintaining BEx Queries and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Strong performance tuning and optimization experience within SAP BW and HANA environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale reporting and analytics solutions.
• Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
• Exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and modern cloud data platforms.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Lake, Medallion Architecture, and modern data platform concepts.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery models.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
