Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced SAP BW Developer in Hyderabad with 5–8 years of SAP BW/HANA experience. You will design, develop, and optimize data models, ABAP routines, and ETL processes across SAP ECC and S/4HANA ecosystems.

You will collaborate with BI teams, work on Azure integrations (Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory), and contribute to Agile delivery. The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and scalable analytics solutions.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in SAP BW/HANA development and data modeling.
• Strong expertise in SAP BW on HANA (SAP NetWeaver 7.5).
• Hands-on experience with InfoObjects, ADSOs, Composite Providers, and Open ODS Views.
• Extensive experience in ABAP development within SAP BW environments.
• Expertise in Start Routines, End Routines, Field Routines, and Lookups.
• Strong experience with HANA Calculation Views and HANA Modeling tools.
• Deep understanding of SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA data structures and extractors.
• Experience with datasource enhancements, customer exits, and BADIs.
• Strong understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with ODP, CDS Views, and flat-file integrations.
• Proven experience in SAP BW performance tuning and optimization.
• Expertise in creating and maintaining BEx queries and reporting solutions.
• Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks.
• Understanding of cloud data migration and modernization strategies.
• Knowledge of Data Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture concepts.
• Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is preferred.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong willingness to learn and adapt to modern cloud and analytics technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SAP BW on HANA data models using SAP NetWeaver 7.5.
• Develop InfoObjects, ADSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, Transformations, DTPs, and BEx Queries.
• Build and optimize HANA Calculation Views and other HANA-based artifacts.
• Develop solutions following LSA/LSA++ architecture principles.
• Extract and transform data from SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and Non-SAP systems into SAP BW.
• Create and enhance custom DataSources and extraction frameworks.
• Develop and maintain ABAP routines including Start, End, and Field Routines.
• Build ABAP enhancements, Customer Exit Variables, Lookups, and BADIs within the BW landscape.
• Debug and optimize ABAP code for performance improvement and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain BEx Queries, Workbooks, Calculated Key Figures, and Restricted Key Figures.
• Collaborate with Data Platform and BI teams to support enterprise reporting requirements.
• Participate in SAP BW integration projects involving Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
• Support SAP data migration and replication initiatives for cloud-based reporting environments.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and alignment with business requirements.
• Contribute to Agile/Scrum delivery teams and participate in sprint activities.
