The role requires deep ABAP expertise, OOABAP, CDS views, Fiori/UI5, RAP, and strong leadership to guide delivery teams and ensure high-quality, scalable solutions across on-premise and cloud SAP stacks.

Qualifications

• 12+ years SAP ABAP development experience, incl. 4–5 years as architect/lead.
• Deep expertise in OOABAP, RAP, CDS views, and Fiori/UI5.
• Strong knowledge of integration: IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall SAP architecture across ECC and S/4HANA.
• Lead design reviews, coding standards, and performance benchmarks.
• Architect solutions using CDS views, RAP, OData, Fiori/UI5, and CAP.
• Design integration objects and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Mentor ABAP developers and guide delivery across onshore/offshore teams.
• Prepare technical docs and cutover/hypercare plans for large programs.
• Support S/4HANA conversion with code remediation and readiness checks.

SAP ABAP Technical Architect

Location: Hyderabad Experience: 12-18 Years Notice Period: 60-90 Days

Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled ABAP Technical Architect to own the technical architecture, development standards, and governance for SAP custom development across ECC and S/4HANA landscapes. The role requires deep expertise in ABAP and modern SAP technical stacks (OOABAP, CDS views, Fiori/UI5, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model), combined with strong leadership skills to guide development teams and ensure high-quality, performant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall technical architecture for custom development (WRICEF) across SAP ECC and S/4HANA, ensuring alignment with SAP best practices and enterprise architecture standards.
• Lead design and code review governance for ABAP developments, enforcing coding standards, performance benchmarks, and reusability guidelines.
• Architect solutions using modern SAP technologies CDS views, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), OData services, Fiori/UI5 apps, and BTP extensions.
• Design and review integration objects (IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, enhancements/BADIs, user exits) ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Partner with functional architects (OTC, SCM, RTR) to translate functional specifications into robust technical designs.
• Drive performance tuning and troubleshooting for complex ABAP programs, interfaces, and reports, particularly in high-volume transaction environments.
• Lead and mentor a team of ABAP developers, providing technical guidance, conducting design/code reviews, and ensuring delivery quality across the project lifecycle.
• Own technical design documentation, unit testing strategy, and technical cutover/hypercare planning for large-scale SAP programs.
• Support S/4HANA conversion projects with custom code remediation, ABAP readiness checks, and adoption of simplified data models.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 12+ years of SAP ABAP development experience, including at least 4-5 years in a technical architect or lead developer role.
• Strong expertise in classic and object-oriented ABAP (OOABAP), including RICEFW objects: reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms (Smart Forms/Adobe Forms), and workflows.
• Hands-on experience with S/4HANA technical stack: CDS views, ABAP RAP/OData services, AMDP, and Fiori/UI5 app development or extension.
• Experience with integration technologies IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, web services/APIs, and middleware (PI/PO or Integration Suite).
• Proven track record of performance tuning, code optimization, and troubleshooting in high-volume SAP environments.
• Experience leading custom code remediation and ABAP readiness assessments for S/4HANA conversion projects.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing or guiding development teams across onshore-offshore delivery models.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with functional architects and business stakeholders.
• Preferred / Good to Have SAP certification in ABAP with SAP NetWeaver / S/4HANA development.
• Experience with SAP BTP, Cloud Application Programming (CAP) model, or Fiori Elements.
• Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD practices for SAP (abapGit, gCTS, Transport Management).
• Experience delivering to clients across US and EU regions.
• Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
