Job summary

Persistent Systems in Pune seeks an Expert SAP ABAP Consultant to lead design, development, and enhancement of SAP solutions. You will design, code, and optimize ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, and workflows across ECC and S/4HANA environments.

Responsibilities include debugging, performance tuning, CDS Views, Fiori/UI5, OData services, and SAP workflow development. Collaboration with functional teams and emphasis on quality design is essential.

Qualifications

• 10–14 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
• Deep expertise in ABAP programming, debugging, and custom development.
• Experience with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments, CDS Views, AMDP, and HANA-native SQL.
• Strong knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 and OData services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom SAP ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows.
• Perform debugging, analysis, and troubleshooting of batch jobs, function modules, reports, and background processing issues.
• Develop object-oriented ABAP solutions using modern SAP development standards.
• Implement and optimize ABAP code for high performance and scalability.
• Work with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Develop CDS Views, AMDP programs, and HANA-optimized solutions.
• Build and maintain SAP Fiori/UI5 applications and OData services.
• Support SAP S/4HANA transformations and migration of legacy developments.
• Implement User Exits, BADI, BTE, Enhancement Framework, and enhancements.
• Develop SmartForms, Adobe Forms, SAP Scripts, and output management.
• Build and support SAP workflow solutions and collaborate with functional teams.

What You'll Do:

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 10 to 14 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Strong expertise in SAP ABAP programming, debugging, and custom development.
• Extensive experience with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Hands-on experience in ABAP on HANA concepts including CDS Views, AMDP, and HANA Native SQL.
• Strong development experience in SAP Fiori/UI5 and OData services.
• Expertise in Object-Oriented ABAP and SAP enhancement techniques.
• Experience implementing User Exits, BADI, BTE, Enhancement Framework, and custom enhancements.
• Strong knowledge of SmartForms, Adobe Forms, SAP Scripts, and output management.
• Experience developing and supporting SAP workflows.
• Strong understanding of database design, SQL optimization, and performance tuning techniques.
• Expertise in code quality reviews, performance analysis, and optimization methodologies.
• Experience performing ABAP Unit Testing and ensuring application reliability.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with functional consultants and business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting large‑scale SAP implementation, upgrade, and transformation programs.
