Job summary

Vertiv in India (Maharashtra) is seeking a technically strong Draughtsman to prepare accurate CAD drawings for Data Center projects. You will support Sales, Project execution and site teams, developing GA, equipment layouts and installation drawings with a focus on MEP systems and BIM/Revit proficiency.

The role requires 5-8 years of drafting/design experience, knowledge of Data Center infrastructure, and strong coordination skills to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Role Overview

To prepare accurate and detailed drawings for Data Center projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements. The role will support Sales, Project execution, cross functional & site teams to ensure accurate and timely drawing deliverables.

The ideal candidate should be a technically strong Draughtsman with excellent CAD skills, attention to detail and an understanding of MEP/critical infrastructure projects. Experience in Data Center projects and knowledge of BIM/Revit will be a strong advantage.

1. Design & Drawing Development

• Prepare detailed drawings based on approved designs, specifications and customer requirements.
• Develop:
  • General Arrangement (GA) drawings
  • Equipment layout drawings
  • Installation drawings
  • Assembly/fabrication drawings
  • Sectional and detailed drawings
  • Schematic and single-line drawings, where applicable
  • As-built drawings
• Prepare layouts for Data Center equipment, systems and associated infrastructure.
• Develop and modify drawings for MEP services, including Electrical systems, HVAC / Mechanical systems, Fire & Life Safety systems, Plumbing, ELV / ICT systems, Data Center equipment and infrastructure layouts
• Develop equipment layouts, cable routes, containment layouts, piping layouts and service coordination drawings.
• Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision control and document standards.
• Ensure drawings are issued within agreed project timelines and follow established quality standards.
• Maintain the drawing database and ensure the latest approved revisions are available to relevant stakeholders.

2. Data Center Solution Drawings

• Understand Data Center architecture and critical infrastructure requirements.
• Prepare drawings for Data Center solutions including power, cooling, containment, racks, electrical distribution and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate drawings for areas such as Data Halls, Electrical Rooms, UPS & Battery Rooms, Mechanical/Plant Rooms, Chiller/Utility Areas, Network/Telecom Areas.
• Develop layouts for UPS, PDU, busway/busbar, switchgear, cooling equipment, racks and other critical Data Center systems.
• Ensure appropriate equipment spacing, service access, maintenance clearance and installation requirements are incorporated.
• Understand and incorporate redundancy concepts such as N, N+1, 2N and A/B systems where applicable.

3. Multidisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate drawings with Stakeholders.
• Identify potential clashes and interface issues before drawings are released.
• Participate in design coordination meetings and incorporate agreed actions.
• Coordinate with Stakeholders to obtain equipment dimensions, technical details and installation requirements.
• Ensure all interfaces are clearly reflected in the drawings.

4. Project Execution Support

• Provide technical drawing support for Project Managers and Site Teams.
• Respond quickly to site queries and drawing-related requirements.
• Update drawings based on approved site changes.
• Prepare red‑line drawings and incorporate site mark‑ups.
• Develop accurate final as‑built documentation for project handover.
• Support preparation of material take‑offs and BOQs when required.

5. Drawing Quality & Document Management

• Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for construction.
• Follow approved company, customer and project drawing standards.
• Maintain proper revision history and drawing numbering.
• Ensure all comments from internal reviews, consultants and customers are incorporated.
• Maintain drawing registers and ensure timely submission of drawings.
• Minimize errors, rework and unnecessary drawing revisions.

Software Skills

Mandatory:

• AutoCAD 2D, MS Office

Preferred:

• Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Other relevant BIM/CAD tools

Qualification

• ITI Or Diploma Or Equivalent Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related.

Experience

• 5 - 8 years of experience in drafting/design.
• Experience in Data Center, MEP, industrial, infrastructure or commercial projects preferred.
