Job summary

Role includes driving safety initiatives, leading the safety committee, conducting drills, and ensuring CAPA and regulatory compliance across site operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements.
• Conduct site safety inspections and job hazard analysis.
• Identify and drive initiatives to improve safety performance.
• Set up and lead the safety committee.
• Formulate an on-site emergency preparedness plan and conduct drills.
• Report and investigate accidents and near-miss incidents and implement CAPA.
• Maintain records relating to accidents and dangerous occurrences.
• Monitor safety work permits and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor safety performance and report HSE metrics and MIS.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and coordinate transfer of best practices.
• Design and conduct HSE training for safety awareness across the plant.
• Knowledge of proactive safety measures and preventive safety implementations.
• Experience in HSE awareness and implementation in manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience in HIRA and CAPA.
• Experience in audits and action plans for improvements.
• Knowledge of applicable HSE laws and compliance.
• Liaise with Statutory Authorities and comply with HSE documentation.

Position purpose

To lead the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE).

To advise and assist the management team in fulfilling its statutory and other obligations, preventing personal injuries, maintaining a safe working environment in the factory and offices, and reducing property and fire risk.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe work environment and comply with applicable Statutory and Regulatory Requirements (Factories Act/ Rules, Environment Acts/ Rules, MPCB Compliance) and other government- or company-driven initiatives
• Conduct site safety inspections and job hazard analysis
• Identify and drive initiatives to improve safety performance
• Set up and lead the safety committee
• Formulate an on-site emergency preparedness plan with identified emergencies and conduct mock drills
• Report and investigate accidents and near-miss incidents and implement CAPA (Corrective Action & Preventive Action)
• Maintain necessary records relating to accidents and dangerous occurrences
• Monitor safety work permits issued and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Monitor safety performance and report the HSE matrix and MIS
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and coordinate the transfer of best practices
• Design and conduct suitable HSE training for safety awareness across the plant
• Knowledge of proactive safety measures and implementation of preventive safety measures.
• Experience in handling HSE awareness and implementation in the manufacturing industry
• Hands-on experience in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA)
• Experience in handling various audits and completing action plans for improvements
• Knowledge of applicable laws related to HSE and related compliances
• Liaise with Statutory Authorities and comply with procedures and documentation related to various HSE compliances.
