Job summary

CIEL HR is seeking a Warehouse Safety Specialist in Bengaluru to enforce SOPs for loading/unloading, run PTW processes, and conduct safety inductions. The role includes electrical safety audits, rack integrity checks, and monthly safety reporting to the Central Safety Team.

Candidate must have hands-on experience in warehouse safety, LOTO/PTW procedures, and drive safety initiatives across shifts. On-site position with comprehensive safety trainings and drills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Enforce SOPs for loading/unloading areas; ensure correct use of safety equipment.
• Define pedestrian-free zones and manage the Green Zone to prevent MHE/personnel overlap.
• Act as sole Issuing Authority for PTW on high-risk activities.
• Conduct monthly electrical safety audits; ensure locked distributor boards and safety mats.
• Coordinate with engineers to obtain Building/Rack Stability Certificates; tag damaged racks with Red Tags.
• Lead New Employee Safety Induction and Visitor Induction; conduct Safe Lifting training.
• Prepare and present Monthly Safety Dashboard to Central Safety Team; track near-misses and audit scores.
• Lead Emergency Preparedness: on-site plan, monthly drills, and readiness of fire safety equipment.
• Organize safety awareness campaigns and specialized trainings for staff.

Role & Responsibilities

Operational & Dock Safety

Dock Safety Management: Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the loading/unloading area. Ensure vehicle chocks, dock levelers, and bumpers are used correctly to prevent \"trailer creep\" or accidental falls.

Traffic Management: Define and monitor pedestrian-free zones at the dock. Manage the \"Green Zone\" for driver waiting areas and ensure zero-overlap between MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and personnel.

Permit to Work (PTW) System: Act as the sole 'Issuing Authority' for all high-risk activities. No third-party or internal work (Hot Work, Height Work, Confined Space, or Heavy Maintenance) is to commence without a signed PTW.

Electrical Safety & LOTO (Lockout-Tagout)

LOTO Implementation: Establish and enforce a strict Lockout-Tagout-Tryout (LOTOTO) protocol for all conveyor maintenance, battery charging stations, and electrical panels.

Electrical Audits: Conduct monthly inspections of MHE charging points (Lithium-ion/Lead-acid) to prevent thermal runaway or fire hazards. Ensure all DBs (Distribution Boards) are locked and rubber mats are in place as per Indian Electricity Rules.

Rack Integrity & Structural Compliance

Stability Certificates: Coordinate with DISH-approved structural engineers to obtain and renew Building/Rack Stability Certificates as per the Factories Act, 1948.

Rack Load Management: Ensure every rack has a visible Load Application and Rack Configuration (LARC) sign.

Daily Rack Checks: Inspect for \"buckled\" uprights or missing safety pins. Mark damaged racks with \"Red Tags\" for immediate isolation.

Induction & Training Programs

New Employee Safety Induction: Conduct a mandatory safety orientation for all new joiners (Pickers, Packers, DEs) covering fire exits, PPE usage, and emergency assembly points.

Visitor Induction: Manage the \"Gate Entry\" safety protocol. Every visitor must undergo a 5-minute safety briefing and wear a \"Visitor\" high-vis vest before entering the warehouse floor.

Manual Handling Training: Provide specialized training on \"Safe Lifting\" to reduce ergonomic injuries during the fast picking of grocery crates.

Monthly Safety Dashboard: Compile and share a comprehensive Monthly Safety Report with the Central Safety Team, including:

Leading Indicators: Near-misses reported, training man-hours, and audit scores.

Lagging Indicators: LTI (Lost Time Injuries) and First Aid cases.

Compliance Status: Validity of Fire NOC, Stability Certificates, and PTW logs.

Incident Investigation: Lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any onsite incident and ensure \"Corrective and Preventive Actions\" (CAPA) are closed within 48 hours.

Emergency Preparedness & Mock Drills

On-Site Emergency Plan (OEP): Develop and maintain a site-specific emergency response plan for fire, chemical spills (HAZMAT), and medical emergencies.

Mock Drills: Schedule and lead monthly mock drills (Fire, Evacuation, or Electrical short circuits). Document the \"Response Time\" and \"Evacuation Effectiveness\" in a formal report.

Emergency Equipment: Ensure 100% readiness of fire hydrants, extinguishers, manual call points (MCPs), and public address (PA) systems.

Awareness & Safety Trainings

Awareness Campaigns: Organize National Safety Week, \"Fire Safety Month\", and seasonal awareness posters/contests to keep safety \"top of mind\".

Specialized Training: Provide hands-on training for Manual Handling (Safe Lifting), Fire Extinguisher usage, and First Aid.
