Job Purpose
ROV Pilot Technician 2 will assist ROV Supervisor & Senior ROV Pilot Technician during offshore operations, maintenance and mobilisation of ROV system. He and the onboard ROV team are responsible for project deliverables as per client requirement. The ROV Pilot Technician 2 works closely with ROV Supervisor, Senior ROV Pilot technician, Project Manager and Resource Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Supervisor in the smooth operation and maintenance of the Remotely Operated Vehicle System.
- Coordinate planned maintenance schedules and fault finding for ROV, TMS, LARS, control & navigation systems and all associated equipment and tooling.
- Assess weather conditions and operational parameters for safe launch/recovery and ROV operations.
- Ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with company procedures and project‑specific documentation.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out with the highest regard for the health and safety of all involved and for the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical umbilical terminations.
- Be safety aware, e.g. aware of legislation/guidance, report accidents, manage safety of team when required to supervise a shift.
- Navigate ROV to work site with Senior ROV Pilot Technician when ROV Supervisor is not present and perform all subsea activities.
- Understand the use of sonar, changes in range/scales, and use of acoustic positioning systems used by ROVs.
- Raise requisition for spares/consumables in a timely manner.
- Coordinate dive records – video, audio and written.
- Assist supervision of launch and recovery operations.
- Maintain a high standard of communication of operational and safety information to team members.
Required Experience & Skills
- Personnel with at least one main Bachelor of “Electrical/Electronics/Electro mechanics/Electrical Control /Mechatronics” Engineering and experience in other fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as ROV Pilot Technician with Work class ROV.
- ROV Pilot Technician should have minimum 1 year experience in water depth of more than 1500 m.
- Competent and capable of basic piloting skills for Work class ROV and basic knowledge of manipulator operations.
- Experience and knowledge of working with Work class ROV, Inspection ROVs, subsea tooling and LARS.
- Has experience working as part of a team during mobilisation and demobilisation.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the company IMS and associated ROV procedures.
- Ensure all ROV operations, maintenance and safety‑related tasks in accordance with company procedures.
- ROV Course / BOSIET / UKOOA Medical / ROV Log Book.

HSE Responsibilities
- Ensure safety of self and others at site.
- Prevent damage of equipment and assets.
- Follow all safety signs, procedures and safe working practices.
- Use appropriate PPE.
- Participate in mock drills.
- Refuse to undertake any activity considered unsafe.
- Fill hazard observation cards where hazards are observed.
- Maintain safe housekeeping of the workplace.
- Stop any operation that is deemed unsafe.
- Operate a fire extinguisher in case of fire.
- Report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager.
- Complete HSE trainings as instructed.
