Job Purpose

Processes data by 1) collating, processing and presenting data on and running/leading of projects of low to medium complexity, 2) processing relevant data (including error analyses and corrections), 3) performing administrative duties that include maintaining accurate and complete survey logs, 4) performing quality control/assurance checks on collated data and feature data for delivery to clients if required, 5) recognizing opportunities for process improvement, 6) recommending changes to existing workflow and 7) communicating needs to software developers. Requires expertise in discipline‑applicable data processing/GIS software and keeping up to date on latest revisions. The Data Processor/Cartographer is responsible for processing field data and producing charts and maps, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to the instructions and priorities set by the Resource/Data Centre Manager. This role involves close collaboration with the OSDC Manager, Chief Geophysicist, Project Supervisors, and Staff Surveyor to ensure timely processing, charting, and reporting. Regular meetings with the OSDC Manager and Supervisors are essential, as is coordinating with the Survey Manager to improve data processing and charting workflows. The Data Processor/Cartographer interacts with BLM/PMs to meet their data processing, charting, and database requirements, liaises with Party Chiefs on data quality and processing needs, and works with Project Managers to issue correct survey instructions and data. Additionally, they collaborate with the IT Manager on data backup, security and security audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Check survey data received from field for completeness and quality.
  • Determine processing/drafting requirements together with the Data Centre Manager.
  • Prepare and set‑up a processing plan for assigned projects and carry out processing for those projects.
  • Onshore/offshore processing and quality control of navigation, bathymetry and all other survey data sets acquired on vessel, including ROV, AUV, multibeam, pipeline inspection/installation, positioning and other data sets.
  • Manage the integrity of project data sets, including incorporation of data sets from third parties, particularly as‑built data sets.
  • Carry out drafting activities for assigned projects compliant with Fugro charting standards.
  • Ensure correct processing of survey data and correct technical data submitted for the report.
  • Maintain survey results/charts/reports archive for all jobs and store data in short‑ and long‑term facilities.
  • Prepare and review processing procedures.
Required Experience & Skills
  • B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Must have skills: Experience in multi‑beam and single‑beam bathymetry data processing and AutoCAD for charting/planning; offshore experience.
  • Good to have skills: CARIS, offshore experience, Micro Station & GIS.
  • Project management skills are preferable.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Entitled to refuse any activity considered unsafe.
  • Fill up hazard observation cards when hazards are noticed at site.
  • Maintain safe housekeeping of the work area.
  • Stop any operation deemed unsafe.
  • Operate a fire extinguisher in case of fire.
  • Report incidents promptly to the immediate supervisor and HSE manager.
  • Complete HSE trainings as instructed.
