About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Robotics & Automation Engineer to join our project execution team.
The candidate will be responsible for the complete technical execution of robotic and automation projects, including robot programming, robot teaching, PLC programming, system integration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, cycle-time optimization, customer trials, and final project handover.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical experience with industrial robots such as FANUC, Yaskawa/Motoman, KUKA, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, or similar platforms, along with a good understanding of PLC-based automation and robotic cell integration.
This position requires a high level of technical ownership, site flexibility, problem-solving ability, and commitment to project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Robot Programming & Teaching
- Perform robot teaching, programming, debugging, and commissioning for industrial robotic applications.
- Develop, modify, optimize, and validate robot programs according to application and process requirements.
- Perform robot mastering/calibration, TCP/tool calibration, work-object/frame configuration, and coordinate setup.
- Optimize robot paths, motion sequences, speeds, and positions to achieve required cycle time and process performance.
- Troubleshoot robot alarms, program errors, communication issues, and application-related problems.
- Maintain proper robot program backups and documentation.
- Work on multiple robot platforms including FANUC, Yaskawa/Motoman, KUKA, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, etc.
2. PLC Programming & Automation
- Develop, modify, debug, and troubleshoot PLC programs for robotic cells and automation systems.
- Establish and troubleshoot RobotPLC communication, handshaking, interlocks, sequencing, and I/O logic.
- Integrate robots with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, servo systems, safety systems, conveyors, and other automation peripherals.
- Perform I/O checking, signal verification, sequence validation, and fault diagnosis.
- Troubleshoot automation and electrical control-related issues during commissioning and production trials.
- Work with industrial communication protocols such as PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, etc.
3. Installation & Site Commissioning
- Execute installation and commissioning of robotic cells, automation systems, and integrated production solutions at customer locations.
- Perform robot installation, setup, calibration, teaching, programming, and trial runs.
- Coordinate electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, PLC, robot, and peripheral system integration.
- Conduct dry runs, safety checks, I/O validation, interlock testing, and production trials.
- Achieve agreed cycle time, quality, functionality, and process performance targets.
- Identify and resolve technical issues independently during commissioning.
- Support production ramp-up and system stabilization after commissioning.
4. Robotic Application Execution
The engineer will work on various industrial applications, including:
- Machine Tending
- Robotic Welding
- Material Handling
- Painting
- Sealing Dispensing
- Loading Unloading
- Press Tending
- Palletizing Depalletizing
- Assembly Automation
- Robotic Inspection
- Customized Robotic Cells
- Other industrial automation applications
5. Project Execution & Ownership
- Take end-to-end technical ownership of assigned project activities.
- Execute projects in line with approved project schedules, technical specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, Design, Project Management, and Application Engineering teams.
- Plan and execute site activities to meet project milestones.
- Identify technical risks, resource requirements, and potential project delays proactively.
- Maintain project documentation, checklists, program backups, commissioning reports, and punch-point records.
- Ensure timely closure of commissioning and customer punch points.
- Support continuous improvement and standardization of robotic solutions.
6. Troubleshooting & Customer Support
- Diagnose and resolve robot, PLC, electrical, communication, sensor, safety, and application-related issues.
- Perform structured root-cause analysis for recurring failures.
- Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
- Minimize equipment downtime during commissioning and production.
- Provide technical support during warranty and post-commissioning periods.
- Maintain professional communication and coordination with customer engineering and production teams.

5. Site Flexibility & Project Commitment
- Willingness to travel extensively to customer and outstation project sites.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, late evenings, weekends, or holidays when required for critical installation, commissioning, production trials, breakdowns, or project milestones.
- Ability to work effectively under demanding project schedules and production deadlines.
Required Technical Experience
Mandatory
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in industrial robotics and automation.
- Strong practical experience in:
- Robot teaching
- Robot programming
- Robot commissioning
- PLC programming
- PLC troubleshooting
- RobotPLC integration
- Site installation and commissioning
- Experience with at least 2-3 major industrial robot brands.
- Practical experience with one or more of:FANUC, Yaskawa/Motoman, KUKA, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi.
- Experience in major robotic application such as machine tending, welding, material handling, assembly, or similar industrial applications.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India
Good to Have
- Experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, Omron, Schneider, or other PLC platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with safety PLCs and industrial robot safety systems.
- Experience with vision systems, servo drives, conveyors, indexing systems, and other automation equipment.
- Experience in automotive, auto-components, manufacturing, welding, or general industrial automation.
Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.E. B.Tech in:
- Mechatronics/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronics/ Industrial Automation Or a related engineering discipline
