About the Role

The Robot Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of ERIC Robotics’ robotic systems at company and project locations.

This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring frequent travel, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to resolve mechanical issues under actual operating conditions. The technician will ensure that robotic systems are mechanically safe, reliable, and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Robot Assembly and Deployment
  • Assemble, disassemble, install, and dismantle robotic systems.
  • Ensure correct fitment, alignment, fastening, mounting, and mechanical readiness.
  • Install sensors, brackets, protective covers, and related mechanical interfaces.
  • Support safe loading, unloading, setup, packing, and transportation of robotic systems.
2. Electronics Assembly Support
  • Assist the Electronics Team with the installation and removal of sensors, cables, enclosures, and electronic components.
  • Ensure that all components are mechanically secured, protected, and handled safely.
  • Support cable routing, mounting, and basic physical inspection under the guidance of the Electronics Team.
3. On-Site Testing and Validation
  • Support field trials, demonstrations, pilot deployments, and customer-site testing.
  • Conduct pre-test and post-test mechanical inspections.
  • Monitor movement, stability, alignment, vibration, noise, looseness, wear, and overall mechanical performance.
  • Record observations through approved checklists, photographs, videos, and test reports.
4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues related to assembly, fitment, alignment, movement, vibration, wear, and structural performance.
  • Perform tightening, lubrication, adjustments, minor repairs, and component replacement.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Retest the robot after corrective action and confirm mechanical readiness.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Electronics, Software, ROS, Manufacturing, Operations, and Project teams.
  • Clearly communicate issues, observations, actions taken, and test results.
  • Escalate critical or unresolved issues to the respective Team Lead or Manager.
6. Team Support
  • Support technicians, operators, helpers, and team members during assembly, testing, maintenance, and deployment.
  • Assist in task execution and ensure proper tool handling, housekeeping, and safety compliance.
  • Follow instructions provided by the Team Lead, Deployment Engineer, or Project Manager.
7. Documentation and SOP Compliance
  • Follow approved deployment SOPs, assembly procedures, testing checklists, maintenance schedules, and safety instructions.
  • Complete deployment checklists, assembly records, testing reports, maintenance logs, issue reports, and daily activity reports.
  • Report any missing, outdated, or impractical procedure to the respective Team Lead or Manager.
8. Safety and Site Compliance
  • Follow ERIC Robotics and customer-site safety requirements.
  • Use appropriate PPE and ensure the robot is mechanically safe before operation.
  • Stop and report any activity that may create a risk to personnel, equipment, or the deployment site.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safe storage of tools and components.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
  • ITI, Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in hands-on mechanical work, robotics, field testing, and equipment deployment.
Technical Skills – Must Have
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical assembly, disassembly, installation, alignment, inspection, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and CAD models.
  • Knowledge of standard fitment, fastening, mounting, and alignment practices.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and inspection equipment safely.
  • Ability to identify mechanical issues through visual inspection, sound, vibration, movement, wear, and measurement.
  • Basic computer skills for completing reports, checklists, photographs, videos, and test records.
Preferred Experience
  • One to three years of experience in mechanical assembly, field service, installation, maintenance, fabrication, industrial equipment, robotics, automation, automotive, or special-purpose machinery.
  • Fresh graduates or ITI/Diploma candidates with strong hands-on project, workshop, fabrication, or internship experience may also be considered.
  • Experience with robotic systems, mobile machines, railway equipment, industrial machinery, or outdoor field testing will be preferred.

Work and Travel Requirements
  • Frequent travel to customer, railway, industrial, testing, and project locations across India.
  • Willingness to stay at deployment locations for multiple days.
  • Flexibility to work during nights, weekends, or holidays depending on project and trial requirements.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions involving heat, dust, noise, vibration, moisture, and changing weather.
  • Ability to handle robot components, tools, and mechanical equipment.
  • Willingness to support urgent field troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Real-world robotics deployment and field-engineering exposure.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced robotic and inspection systems.
