Job description

RITES Limited has invited applications for the post of Additional General Manager (Mechanical) on deputation basis. The vacancy notification, issued on May 25, 2026, seeks eligible IRSME officers of Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) level for the position.

According to the official vacancy circular No. 12/26 (D), only one post is available and the selected officer will be posted in Gurgaon. However, the company stated that the officer may be posted anywhere in India or abroad depending on organisational requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for RITES AGM (Mechanical) Post

The notification states that IRSME officers applying for the post should not be more than 57 years of age as on the last date of submission of applications.

The post carries pay under the 7th CPC Matrix Level-12. Selected officers will continue to receive parent pay along with deputation allowance and other admissible benefits as per Railway Board guidelines.

The forwarding authority must include:

• No Objection Certificate (NOC)
• Vigilance and DAR clearance
• APARs/ACRs for the last five years
• Details of penalties, if any

The last date for receipt of duly forwarded applications is 45 days from the date of issue of the vacancy notice.

Selection Process and Marking Criteria

The selection process will be based on a 100-point evaluation system detailed in Annexure-II of the notification.

The weightage includes:

• Educational Qualification: 15 marks
• Performance in Service (APARs): 25 marks
• Interview Performance: 50 marks

Candidates securing 60% or above will qualify for consideration based on merit ranking.

Previous Vacancy Remained Unfilled

RITES stated that the post had earlier been advertised under Vacancy Circular No. 26/25(D) dated December 1, 2025. However, the position remained vacant as the selected officer could not join.

The company also clarified that the Ministry of Railways has extended approval for continuation of officers on deputation in RITES beyond August 31, 2023, for an additional three-year period.
