Birla Opus seeks a skilled professional to drive development and scale-up of waterproofing membrane coating products (HDPE, APP, SBS). You will lead ideation, protocol finalization, testing, and field validations to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Expect cross-functional collaboration with Sales/Marketing for samples and data-driven decision making. Responsibilities include performance data generation, R&R execution, and post-launch support, with emphasis on cost efficiency, cycle time

Job Purpose: Development and scaleup of assigned new products; product enhancements, undertaking tasks to support business efficiency (Cost; Cycle time; Waste Minimization; Trouble shooting) & effectiveness (Design robustness; Product quality; Complaint investigation and resolution; Custom solution development) for Waterproofing Membrane Coating. This Covers HDPE, APP and SBS membranes.

Job Context: Product Development; Product Improvement; Efficiency; Effectiveness.

Internal Challenge : Executing projects under tight timelines. Handling multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.

External Challenge : Generally limited. Occasional requirements of visits at short notice; Online trouble shooting; Customer complaint management at live sites.

New Product Development & Product Improvement

• Contributing towards “Product / Improvement”; “ideation” & finalizing “Processes“; “Test Protocols“ and Performance deliverables.
• RM Scouting & Selection
• Experimenting; Testing; Optimization
• Performance data generation (Short term & Long term) & confirming outcomes against target.
• Undertaking field validations
• Carrying out R&R
• Generation of Master Samples & Panels
• Scale up support at shop floor
• Launch support & Post launch support
• Inter-department interactions for product testing.

Formulation Efficiency [Cost Efficiency] RM Evaluations:

Process Optimization

Performing experiments either at R&D or at shop floor with the aim of achieving process optimization leading to cycle time reduction; waste minimization; energy efficiency or consistent quality achievement.

Product Benchmarking

Coordination with Sales & Marketing for sample collection. Testing; Data Analysis and interpretation. Publishing results along with recommendations for further actions (if any)

Customer Support: Visits to customer sites / Sales team interaction to understand problem. Identification of potential root causes basis visits / interactions. Experimentation to develop remedies Facilitating implementation (through recommendations or demonstrations)

Process Adherence: Understanding process to be adhered as part of development work and ensuring adherence to the same (which is inclusive of recording of experiments; data; evidence maintenance and preservations)
