Job summary

Momentive is seeking a Research Assistant to participate in process development and scale-up for organic synthesis and polymerization at laboratory and pilot scales.

You will work under the guidance of the R&D point of contact, evolving as a team player with strong project management skills and organizational citizenship.

Qualifications

• Master in chemistry/polymer technology.
• 0–2 years of experience in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry.
• Experience handling polymer/organic synthesis safely.
• Knowledge of NMR, GC, FTIR is advantageous.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to coordinate testing and interpret results.
• High integrity and ethical conduct.
• Interpersonal skills for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Self-motivation and curiosity.
• Familiarity with basic statistical tools.

Job Title

Research Assistant

Summary

The candidate will be responsible for process development and scale up which involves organic synthesis, polymerization in laboratory scale and pilot scale. The candidate will be expected to work under the guidance of R&D Point of contact. Evolve as an impactful team player with good organizational citizenship and use project management skills appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Gather brief understanding of incumbent technology and explore opportunities to translate learning towards development of new solutions demonstrating performance benefits based on Project needs and end applications
• Work with Scientist on planning and execute laboratory work for evaluating new product concepts
• Develop, document and communicate work done to stakeholders
• Supply all technical information and data needed to generate necessary SDS and Regulatory documents
• Contribute to the safety teams and aid in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees

Qualifications

• Master in chemistry/polymer technology
• With 0-2 years of experience in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry or equivalent
• Experience in handling polymer/organic synthesis procedures in a safe & efficient manner.
• Working knowledge in NMR, GC, FTIR and other characterization techniques would be an added advantage
• Ability to independently perform and co-ordinate testing, interpret results and draw analysis
• High standard of integrity and behaves in a fair and ethical manner
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
• Preferred Qualification Exposure to silicone chemistry in a whole.
• Good interpersonal skills for interactions with matrix global stakeholders.
• Self-motivated individual with good level of creativity, technical curiosity and strong team spirit
• Use of basic statistical tools to provide clear understanding to experimental results.
