Job summary

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) in New Delhi is hiring an entry-level Research Analyst for the Clean Air team. The role focuses on analyzing sustainability reports of Indian companies to track progress on air emissions, with emphasis on data analysis and clear presentation of findings.

The successful candidate will possess a public policy/environmental background and be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.
  • Prior experience in analysing the environmental performance of companies.
  • An understanding of environmental disclosure frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage allocated workstreams on quantitative and qualitative applied research on air quality issues in India.
  • Identify key research questions, design the research approach/framework, collect data and analyze using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative methods, and present analyses in formats such as journal publications, reports, op-eds, and consultation meetings.
  • Regularly track policy measures taken by the government and their implementation status that concern air quality in India and globally.
  • Generate high-quality research reports, policy briefs and publications in leading peer-reviewed journals; produce blogs and policy briefs as needed.
  • Support senior researchers in conceptualising new projects, developing high-impact proposals, stakeholder engagement events and donor funding applications.
  • Support outreach of research outputs through coordination with the outreach team and policymakers.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a broad understanding of air quality developments.

CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst withgood data analysis skills to join the Clean Air team. The role will furtherhelp CEEW’s Clean Air team raise the bar. The role primarily involves analysingsustainability reports of Indian companies to track their progress in improvingtheir air emissions.

Thecandidate is expected to have good data analysis and presentation skills.

In addition to theduties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as andwhen necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Job duties and accountabilities
Primary Responsibilities
Research
  • Independentlymanage allocated workstreams on quantitative and quantitative applied researchon air quality issues in India.
  • Identifyingkey research question(s), designing the research approach/framework, collectionof data and data analyses using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative,and presenting the analyses in a coherent narrative in different formats suchas journal publications, reports, op-ed articles, and consultation meetings.
  • Regularlytrack policy measures taken by the government and their implementation statusthat concern air quality in India and globally.
  • Generatehigh-quality research reports, policy briefs and publications in leadingpeer-reviewed journals. Generate other knowledge products such as blogs, policybriefs, etc., at regular intervals.
  • Supportthe senior researchers in conceptualising new projects, developing high-impactresearch proposals, stakeholder engagement events and applications for researchand general donor funding.
  • Supporteffective outreach of research outputs through coordination with the outreachteam, engagement with a broader network of stakeholders, and concernedpolicymakers.
  • Participatein relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a comprehensiveunderstanding of developments relevant to the air quality sector.
Selection Criteria
Qualification

Bachelors/Masters degree in PublicPolicy, Sustainable Finance, Environmental Engineering, and related fields.
