Job description

An exciting opportunity in our endless pursuit of customer satisfaction through engineering excellence. The Ops Global Engineering, Materials and Sustainability (Ops GEMS) team is seeking an exceptionally talented, smart and agile Renewable Energy Manager to lead the development of business cases, engagement with local stakeholders and policymakers, as well as operation, maintenance, performance optimization, and strategic development of on-site solar and BESS across India. The position will focus on end-to-end ownership of the India solar and BESS portfolio, combining design review, asset management, regulatory compliance, performance engineering, and strategic development. You will supervise solar and BESS systems located across India while supporting the broader global network managed by Ops GEMS. The role requires an individual strong in core principles of deliver result, bias for action, ownership, and insisting on the highest standards.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Ops GEMS team and will serve as the regional point of contact for all solar and BESS systems in India, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee pipeline development, optimum performance, safety, and reliability. You will provide analytical feedback on asset performance, lead strategic planning for renewable energy deployment, own the multi-year onsite roadmap for India, and drive operation and maintenance improvements in solar and battery technology. Constantly aiming for safety, optimum performance, efficiency, cost optimization, quality, customer satisfaction, and ultimately profitability within Amazon. You will work closely with technology owners, the reliability maintenance engineering (RME) team, regional solar teams, operational sites, maintenance vendors, the Design and Construction team, the Procurement Category team, and other key stakeholders that are part of the renewable program.

Key job responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Ops GEMS team to guarantee safe and optimum performance of the solar and BESS systems across India.
  • Own the multi-year onsite roadmap and strategy for renewable energy and BESS across India.
  • Identify market trends impacting the renewable energy and storage strategy and determine where Amazon has the need or opportunity for onsite renewable energy and/or BESS solutions.
  • Work with key stakeholders to contract and deploy renewable energy and/or BESS solutions.
  • Align the region with new operation and maintenance processes for solar and storage systems. Propose improvements to existing processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to optimize solar and battery performance; act as an escalation point for critical or complex problem solving on live assets and assets in commissioning.
  • Manage incidents, lead Root Cause Analysis, capture lessons learned and share them with the other regional asset managers for global improvement of the portfolio.
  • Manage subcontractors and maintenance vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
