Are you passionate about solving challenging chemistry problems?

Turing is seeking PhD-level researchers in Chemistry to evaluate the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). Your role will involve creating chemistry problems, analyzing model responses, and identifying logical or comprehension gaps. The objective is to assess how effectively these models handle abstract thinking and structured problem-solving.

What does the day-to-day look like?

You will develop chemistry problems, review AI solutions, and provide insights into the model's understanding of complex reasoning and logical steps. Tasks include:

Calculating equilibrium concentrations of gases in a high-temperature coal gasifier scenario.
Developing reactor models for gas-phase reactions in a plug flow reactor under specified conditions.

Qualifications:

Enrolled in or completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral fellowship in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related fields.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
Excellent written communication skills, especially in remote settings.
Comfortable working independently.
Stable computer and internet access.

Note: Only candidates who have completed or are pursuing a Ph.D. are eligible; applications without this qualification will not be considered.

Time Commitment & Contract Details:

At least 4 hours/day and a minimum of 20 hours/week with 4 hours overlap with PST. Options available for 20, 30, or 40 hours/week.
Contractor/freelancer engagement (no medical or paid leave).
Duration: 1 month, starting next week.
Selection involves a task-based assessment, followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
