Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a qualified Reinsurance Accounting professional in India to manage end-to-end accounting for treaty and facultative business. You will handle entries for premiums, claims, settlements, and recoverables, ensuring accurate monthly closes.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce, with CA/CPA/ACCA/CMA preferred, and 1.5–4 years of experience in reinsurance or R2R roles within insurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA/CPA/ACCA/CMA qualification or progress toward certification preferred.
• 1.5–4 years of experience in Reinsurance Accounting or related R2R roles.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end reinsurance accounting activities for treaty and facultative business.
• Prepare, review, and post reinsurance entries (premiums, claims, recoverables, settlements).
• Reconcile ceded and assumed balances and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reconciliations; clear outstanding items.
• Manage cash settlements and coordinate with brokers and cedants to resolve discrepancies.
• Support reporting on reserves, IBNR, DAC and unearned premium.

Job description

• Perform end-to-end reinsurance accounting activities for treaty and facultative business, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and post reinsurance accounting entries, including premiums, claims, commissions, recoverables, and settlements.
• Reconcile reinsurance accounts, including ceded and assumed balances, reinsurance receivables/payables, and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year‑end account reconciliations, resolve outstanding items, and ensure compliance with close timelines.
• Manage reinsurance cash settlements and coordinate with brokers, ceding companies, and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
• Support reporting related to reinsurance balances, reserves, recoverables, IBNR, DAC, unearned premium, and other insurance accounting requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• CA/CPA/ACCA/CMA qualification or progress toward certification is preferred.
• 1.5–4 years of experience in Reinsurance Accounting, Insurance Accounting, or Record to Report (R2R) within the insurance industry.
