iPLON India seeks a Regional Support & Commissioning Engineer / Senior Engineer to lead installation, testing and commissioning of Industrial IoT gateways, SCADA, and related devices across customer sites.

The role covers on-site and remote technical support, customer training, and close collaboration with product development and project engineering teams. Diploma/Bachelor's in electrical/electronics or related fields preferred, with 1–5 years experience depending on seniority.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Commissioning

   • Perform installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of Industrial IoT Gateways, Data Loggers, RTUs, PLCs, Energy Meters, Sensors, Communication Devices, and SCADA systems.
   • Execute SAT activities and ensure successful project commissioning at customer sites.
   • Conduct pre-installation site surveys and verify infrastructure readiness.
   • Coordinate with EPCs, system integrators, contractors, and customers during project execution.
   • Validate communication with field devices, cloud platforms, and SCADA systems.
   • Ensure projects are commissioned as per approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.

2. Technical Support & Service

   • Provide on-site and remote technical support for hardware, software, networking, and communication-related issues.
   • Diagnose and resolve field issues involving Industrial IoT devices, communication networks, PLCs, RTUs, inverters, energy meters, weather stations, and third-party equipment.
   • Perform preventive maintenance, health checks, firmware upgrades, and corrective maintenance.
   • Coordinate with Product Development, Software, Production, and Project Engineering teams for complex technical issues.
   • Ensure timely closure of customer complaints and service tickets while meeting defined response and resolution timelines.

3. Customer Support

   • Build strong customer relationships through responsive technical support.
   • Conduct customer training on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
   • Provide regular project updates and communicate technical findings effectively.
   • Support warranty services, annual maintenance activities, and post-commissioning customer requirements.

4. Documentation & Reporting

   • Prepare commissioning reports, installation reports, service reports, preventive maintenance reports, and site visit documentation.
   • Maintain accurate records of project activities, customer issues, and service history.
   • Update CRM, ticketing systems, and internal project management tools with field activities and resolutions.
   • Support preparation of technical documentation whenever required.

5. Safety & Compliance

   • Follow company safety policies and site safety regulations during all field activities.
   • Ensure compliance with quality procedures and engineering standards.
   • Maintain company assets, test equipment, and tools in good working condition.

Required Technical Skills

• Good understanding of Industrial IoT, PLC and Automation Systems.
• Experience with Industrial Gateways, RTUs, PLCs, Data Loggers, Energy Meters, Inverters, Sensors, and Communication Devices.
• Knowledge of Industrial Communication Protocols including:
  • Modbus RTU
  • Modbus TCP
  • RS232
  • RS485
  • Ethernet
  • TCP/IP
  • MQTT (preferred)
  • OPC UA (preferred)
• Electrical panel wiring and troubleshooting.
• Network configuration including routers, switches, VPN, LAN/WAN, and basic firewall concepts.
• Linux and Windows-based device configuration.
• Hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of SQL databases and cloud-based monitoring platforms is desirable.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and network architecture diagrams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines:
  • Electrical Engineering (EE/EEE)

  • Or an equivalent technical qualification

Experience

Engineer:

• 1-2 years of experience in Industrial Automation, Industrial IoT, Renewable Energy, SCADA, Field Service, Technical Support, or Commissioning.

Senior Engineer:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience with proven capability to independently execute commissioning activities, lead site support, and coordinate with customers and internal engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Hybrid Power Plants, Microgrids, or Utility Automation.
• Exposure to SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), Power Plant Controllers (PPC), or Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
• Experience with industrial networking and remote monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms, ticketing tools, and service management systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Programming knowledge in C/C++, Java, Python, or scripting is an added advantage.
• Experience with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, or OPC communication protocols is desirable.
