In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Complete Project Life Cycle from inputs analysis, Design & Engineering, Testing & Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to commissioning as per requirements.
Project Engineering
- Collection and review of project inputs from the Front Office or from the customer site through e‑mail, kick‑off meeting, site survey.
- Execute DCS and SCADA based Solar/BESS/Microgrid green‑field and retrofit projects, software and hardware engineering and configuration.
- Guide the team to implement controls from SAMA, functional diagrams or functional descriptions; modify DCS/SCADA graphics; create faceplate macros, control macros and test them.
- Create/modify DCS internal point database; extract HW IO list from customer drawings; prepare database; query with HW team and customer for clarifications.
- Prepare and guide the team on IO list and DBID; build blocks of DCS system like Binary gates, A/M stations, PIDs etc. and test; implement analogue and digital simulation logic for first‑pass and tie‑back simulation testing of implemented controls and graphics.
- Configure 3rd‑party protocols, ELC and SLC communication.
- Distribute the engineering work to system integrators; follow up to complete each project within budget, on or before time and with quality.
- Participate in kick‑off meetings (KOM), internal and external meetings of projects; engage in customer demos, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities.
- Experience with PSCAD and PSSE modeling to simulate and test power systems.
- Process test of Solar/BESS/Microgrid plants and BOP; working knowledge of industrial standards such as IEEE, IEC, NEC and Grid codes.
- Read electrical single‑line diagrams (SLDs), and switchboard control logic drawings; experience with a variety of equipment including inverters, transformers, capacitor banks, trackers, IEDs, etc.
- Follow department Quality & HSE processes and procedures.
Field Services
- Power up Ovation system, test redundancy and I/O; test analogue and digital devices and diagnose faults.
- Maintain protocols for loop check, device check and panel charging; perform loop and device checks and modify logics, graphics, and database as per customer and site requirements.
- Diagnose faults of Ovation system, network system, and interfaces such as OPC, Modbus, DNP3, serial, IEC 61850.
- Work closely with engineering team to troubleshoot HW/SW (e.g., controllers, modules, link modules).
- Commission Solar/BESS/Microgrid plant for commercial operation; travel to project sites to perform testing and tuning of electrical control functions, third‑party communication, and commissioning.
- Customer‑facing site reporting.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, Power Engineering).
- 3 to 8 years of experience in DCS/PLC programming / engineering / commissioning.
- Ability to troubleshoot DCS/PLC control systems.
- Clear accountability and outcome‑based responsibilities as per COE 2.0.
- Relevant digital and AI capabilities.
- Full‑cycle ownership of tasks and processes.
- Excellent language and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to write reports and business communications.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to queries from managers, clients, and customers.
- Interface with vendors & sub‑contractors.
- Good understanding of safety tools and gears, and safety guidelines for site work.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- Good knowledge of Solar, BESS power plant processes and KPIs.
- Good knowledge of Microgrid, electrical control functions and required I/O signals.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment such as switchboards, generators, turbines, AVRs, motors, transformers, capacitors, CTs, VTs, feeders, meters, relays.
- Knowledge in C programming.
