Yulu is seeking a Regional Lead - South for its Public Policy team to own state policy charters in Maharashtra and Karnataka, drive ecosystem engagement, and translate strategy into on-ground execution.

Qualifications

• 6-7 years of professional experience in public policy, corporate affairs, government relations, or strategic advocacy.
• Proven track record engaging with key government stakeholders from a larger-organisation perspective.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to design national/state level strategies from scratch.
• Solid experience managing or engaging with gig-economy advocacy groups, labour and mobility councils.
• Ability to influence across distributed regional teams and cross-functional departments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to synthesize complex issues for external stakeholders.

Role Summary

Yulu is looking for a Regional Lead - South to join its Public Policy team. This is a high-ownership role for someone who can take charge of a critical, high-priority policy charter spanning Maharashtra and Karnataka, working closely with the Head of Public Policy to ensure seamless execution on the ground.

Beyond the state charter, you will also own a core, organisation-wide work stream focused on state engagements, including but not limited to building and deepening relationships across the mobility, labour, and gig-economy ecosystem to drive long-term partnerships for Yulu. This role sits at the intersection of policy design, stakeholder management, and cross-functional execution, and is ideal for someone who thrives on ambiguity and enjoys building structure where none exists yet.

What You'll Do

• Own State Policy Charters: Take end-to-end ownership of Yulu's policy priorities in Maharashtra and Karnataka, working closely with the Head of Public Policy to translate strategy into on-ground execution.
• Drive State & Ecosystem Engagement: Lead a dedicated charter for state-level engagement, including building relationships across the mobility, labour, and gig-economy landscape to create long-term, durable partnerships for Yulu.
• Work Across Teams: Partner with Communications, Legal, Operations, and the central policy function on a regular basis, making sure regional policy priorities stay tied to what the business is trying to achieve.
• Regulatory Expertise: Keep a close eye on how relevant laws and regulations are shifting, turn that into whitepapers and briefing notes, and be the person leadership turns to for a read on where things stand.
• Stakeholder Management: Assess policy documents, produce sharp knowledge collaterals, and lead stakeholder meetings with government bodies, industry forums, and labour representatives.
• Independent Ownership: Think and produce outputs independently, balancing high-level policy design with day-to-day operational alignment.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience: 6-7 years of professional experience in public policy, corporate affairs, government relations, or strategic advocacy.
• Strategic Architecture: Proven track record of engaging with key government stakeholders from a larger-organisation perspective, not just a transactional or issue-by-issue lens.
• Comfort with Ambiguity: Demonstrated agility in picking up new, complex regulatory portfolios quickly and designing national or state-level strategy from scratch, especially when the policy framework is evolving or undefined.
• Be a stakeholder champion: Solid experience managing or engaging with gig-economy advocacy groups, labour and mobility councils in a complex, high-stakes stakeholder environment.
• Matrix Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across distributed regional teams (such as state leads) and cross-functional departments without direct authority.
• Communication Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to synthesise complex legal or operational issues into compelling narratives for external government stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, Communications, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or advanced qualification in Public Policy, Business Administration (MBA), Law (LL.B/LL.M), or International Relations.
• Deep familiarity with transport regulations, evolving labour ecosystem, and digital economy frameworks.
• Existing relationships with central ministries, central labour unions, national think tanks, or state-level transport departments.
• Prior experience within the mobility or transport sector is a strong plus.
• A self-motivated individual who thrives in ambiguity and can comfortably pivot between high-level policy design and on-the-ground operational alignment.
