Job summary

IMR Press in India seeks a Regional Journal Development Editor to promote journals, build relationships with universities, hospitals, and research institutions, and drive manuscript submissions.

The role requires a PhD and extensive publishing experience, with excellent English. You will identify scholars for editorial roles, represent the company at events, monitor trends, and report progress. Flexible hours and remote work opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacy, or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in journal development, academic outreach, author engagement, manuscript acquisition, or a similar role within academic publishing is required.
• Familiarity with the local academic environment of hospitals, research institutions, or universities.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
• Ability to proactively identify potential academic resources and follow up professionally and promptly.

Responsibilities

• Promote the company’s journals within the local academic community to enhance journal visibility and academic impact.
• Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with universities, hospitals, research institutions, academic societies, and conference organizers.
• Invite high-quality manuscript submissions by proactively identifying and contacting potential authors, research teams, and subject experts, and by commissioning and encouraging high-quality submissions aligned with the journal’s scope, research trends, and special topic directions.
• Identify and develop local scholars as Editorial Board members, Early-Career Editorial Board members, reviewers, and other academic contributors, and maintain strong relationships with them to foster greater engagement with the journal.
• Represent the company and its journals at academic conferences, institutional visits, webinars, academic exchange activities, and local academic networking events.
• Collect local market information and monitor and follow up on research trends in relevant fields.
• Submit regular work progress reports, including academic contact development, potential collaboration opportunities, conference resources, market feedback, and journal development suggestions.
