Job summary

ABB India (Nashik) seeks an experienced LV Switchgear Design Engineer to create and modify standard equipment designs, drawings and calculations in line with contract specs. You will drive design reviews and verification, support FAT/SAT and customer handover, and coordinate with manufacturing to ensure proper fabrication and testing.

This onsite role requires strong PLC/HMI and Profibus/Profinet knowledge and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable electrical solutions.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of LV Switchgear Design, Engineering and Automation experience.
• Hands-on LV switchgear communication and testing.
• Strong PLC/HMI programming and industrial communication knowledge.
• Experience with FAT, SAT and site commissioning.
• Full-time BE/BTech in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/EEE required.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify standard designs of equipment, systems or installations per contract specs.
• Prepare drawings and calculations; participate in design reviews and verification.

This Position reports to:

Engineering Team Lead - Communications & Digital

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, using standard design concepts. Each day, you will design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.

This role is contributing to the Electrification business in Smart Power division at Nashik, India.

• Contributing to the preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet the contractual obligations, adhering to relevant standards, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.

• Ensuring that Bill of Materials for the project meets contractual obligations and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material.

• Coordinating with manufacturing and testing functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged and tested, updating the engineering deliverables as built.

• Using standard processes and tools and assisting in developing new processes and tools for the reuse of technical solutions.

Qualifications for the role

• You have 3 to 8 years of experience in LV Switchgear Design, Engineering and Automation, with hands-on experience in LV Switchgear communication and testing.

• You possess strong knowledge of PLC/HMI Programming and communication protocols such as Profibus and Profinet, including communication testing and troubleshooting.

• You have proven experience in FAT, SAT and Site Commissioning, with responsibility for engineering activities from design through FAT and customer handover.

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Should be full time.

• You are passionate about technical problem-solving, customer satisfaction, quality and effective coordination with customers and cross-functional teams.
