Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor – Civil to manage the commercial and quantity surveying activities associated with civil and building works. The position will be responsible for quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, tendering, measurement, valuation, variations, subcontractor management, cost control, and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and BOQs for civil and building works, including:
- Earthworks and excavation
- Foundations and substructures
- Reinforced concrete works
- Structural works
- Blockwork and masonry
- Plastering and screeding
- Waterproofing
- Finishes
- External works and landscaping
- Roads, paving, and infrastructure works
- Review construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and project budgets.
- Review drawings and identify quantity discrepancies, omissions, and scope changes.
- Prepare tender documents and evaluate contractor/subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare commercial comparison statements and recommendations.
- Measure completed works and prepare interim payment applications/certificates.
- Verify subcontractor measurements, bills, invoices, and supporting documents.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and cash-flow projections.
- Evaluate and price variations, change orders, claims, and additional works.
- Maintain variation and claims registers.
- Assist with contract administration and commercial negotiations.
- Coordinate with consultants, project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors.
- Monitor material quantities, wastage, and cost impacts.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
- Maintain accurate records of quantities, measurements, costs, commitments, and payments.
- Prepare, negotiate, and finalize subcontractor and supplier final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with project contracts and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Quantity Surveying or Contracts Management is an advantage.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in civil/building quantity surveying or commercial management.
- Experience with main contractors, developers, or civil contractors is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and materials.
- Excellent quantity take-off, measurement, and BOQ preparation skills.
- Strong understanding of construction costs and market rates.
- Knowledge of variations, claims, contracts, interim payments, and final accounts.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and quantity surveying/commercial software.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
