JOB DESCRIPTION CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Position: Estimator Construction

Department: Estimation / Pre-Construction

Reporting To: Project Manager / Estimation Manager / Management

Location: Kengeri Kodipalya Bangalore.

1. Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically sound Construction Estimator to prepare accurate project cost estimates, BOQs, material quantities, labour costs, and quotations for residential and commercial construction projects. The candidate should have good knowledge of civil construction, quantity take-off, construction materials, rates, BOQ preparation, and estimation software/Excel.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Study architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and MEP drawings.
• Prepare detailed Quantity Take-Off (QTO) and BOQs.
• Calculate quantities for concrete, steel, masonry, plastering, flooring, painting, waterproofing, etc.
• Prepare project cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and site requirements.
• Calculate material, labour, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
• Collect and compare material and vendor quotations.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive rates.
• Prepare rate analysis for major construction activities.
• Prepare client quotations and commercial proposals.
• Check drawings and identify discrepancies, missing information, or scope gaps.
• Coordinate with architects, structural designers, MEP consultants, project managers, and site engineers.
• Assist in preparing project budgets and cost forecasts.
• Maintain records of rates, quantities, vendors, and previous project estimates.
• Review changes in project scope and prepare revised estimates.
• Support the project team in cost control and variation management.
• Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and within the required timeline.

3. Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of civil construction and building materials.
• Good understanding of drawings and construction specifications.
• Excellent quantity calculation and measurement skills.
• Knowledge of BOQ and Rate Analysis.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
• Knowledge of estimation software is an advantage.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.

4. Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.

5. Experience

Experience: 15 years in construction estimation/quantity surveying preferred.

Freshers with strong technical knowledge and good Excel/estimation skills may also be considered.
