Job summary

ASSYSTEM is hiring a Quantity Surveyor in Mumbai to support civil and structural projects within the infrastructure/building sector. You will prepare BoQs, estimate costs, manage contracts and procurement, and monitor budgets and expenditures across the project lifecycle.

You will liaise with project teams and clients, ensuring compliance with standards and thorough documentation, while contributing to value engineering and cost optimisation.

Qualifications

• B.Tech or B.Sc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation or project controls in civil/structural projects.
• Proficient in BoQ preparation and detailed cost estimates.
• Strong contract administration and procurement knowledge.
• Proficient with QS software and MS Office Suite (Excel/Word/Project).
• Excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills.

Job Description

**Responsibilities:**

• Prepare and manage comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for civil and structural projects

• Administer contracts and manage contractual obligations between stakeholders
• Oversee procurement processes and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness
• Monitor project progress, track expenditures, and prepare regular financial reports
• Manage variation orders and change requests with appropriate documentation and approval
• Perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for cost and schedule impacts
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project requirements
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, records, and audit trails
• Analyse tender documents and provide cost-benefit analysis for project decisions
• Support project teams in value engineering initiatives to optimise costs without compromising quality

Qualifications

**Qualifications:**

• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, or project controls within civil and structural construction projects
• Proficiency in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and detailed cost estimates
• Strong knowledge of contract administration and procurement practices
• Competency in financial management, budgeting, and cost forecasting
• Proficiency with quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across stakeholder groups

**Preferred:**

• Professional certification such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent quantity surveying qualification
• Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and associated cost management tools
• Demonstrated expertise in value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Experience in managing variation orders and change control processes
• Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation planning for construction projects
