Job summary

Alccotech Building Material Pvt Ltd in Badlapur, Maharashtra, seeks a Quality Manager to lead QA/QC for its dry mix mortar plant. You will manage sampling plans, batch release, and supplier conformity while coordinating with Production, R&D, Purchase and Sales for continual improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own the plant QA/QC system from receipt of raw materials through batching, mixing, packing, storage and dispatch of dry mix mortar products.
• Approve and monitor incoming raw materials including cement, graded sand, SCMs/fillers, polymers, cellulose ethers, chemical additives and pigments against specifications and supplier COAs.
• Prepare sampling plans, inspection/test plans, product specifications, test frequencies, acceptance criteria and batch-release procedures.
• Control critical process parameters and identify trends before non-conformities.
• Ensure finished-product testing and retention of records; maintain batch-wise traceability.
• Investigate customer complaints; coordinate required testing and establish root cause.
• Prepare CAPA actions and coordinate with Sales/Technical Services, Production and R&D for resolution.
• Maintain ISO 9001:2015 documentation; support internal and external audits.
• Train and supervise QC chemists/technicians and production personnel on sampling, testing and quality controls.

Primary position Objective:

To lead the Quality Control and Quality Assurance function of Alccotech’s dry mix mortar plant, ensuring that incoming raw materials, production processes and finished products consistently comply with approved specifications, applicable standards and customer requirements. The role is responsible for laboratory control, batch release, process monitoring, traceability, calibration, non-conformance management, root-cause analysis, customer complaint handling and continual improvement, while coordinating closely with Production, R&D for assisting in new product development, Purchase, Sales and Technical Services.

Key responsibilities

• Own the plant QA/QC system from receipt of raw materials through batching, mixing, packing, storage and dispatch of dry mix mortar products.
• Approve and monitor incoming raw materials including cement, graded sand, SCMs/fillers, polymers, cellulose ethers, chemical additives and pigments against specifications and supplier COAs.
• Prepare and implement sampling plans, inspection/test plans, product specifications, test frequencies, acceptance criteria and batch-release procedures.
• Control critical process parameters such as sand moisture and grading, weighing/dosing accuracy, mixer homogeneity, water demand, bulk density and pack weight; identify trends before they become non-conformities.
• Ensure finished-product testing as applicable to each product category, including consistency/flow, water retention, setting time, density, compressive/flexural strength, adhesion/pull-off, open time, slip and other specified performance parameters.
• Review laboratory and production results, authorize or hold batches, issue COAs/test reports and maintain complete batch-wise traceability and retained-sample records.
• Attend and investigate customer complaints at project/site locations whenever required; inspect the reported application and failure condition, review batch and test records, collect representative samples where appropriate, coordinate required laboratory/field testing, document observations and establish the probable root cause based on technical evidence.
• Prepare customer complaint investigation reports, recommend corrective and preventive actions, coordinate with Sales/Technical Services, Production and R&D for resolution, and ensure complaint closure with proper documentation and follow-up.
• Investigate internal deviations and out-of-specification results using structured root-cause analysis; initiate, verify and close corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Establish statistical quality monitoring and trend analysis for key raw-material, process and finished-product parameters; report quality KPIs and recurring risks to management.
• Manage the QC laboratory, including equipment calibration/verification, maintenance, reference standards, testing discipline, housekeeping and safe working practices.
• Coordinate third-party/NABL laboratory testing and ensure correlation between internal and external test results where required.
• Conduct supplier-quality evaluation and support Purchase in approval, development and periodic performance review of critical raw-material suppliers.
• Support R&D scale-up, plant trials, change-control and validation of new formulations/raw materials without compromising released product quality.
• Maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality-system documentation, conduct internal audits, support external/customer audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Train and supervise QC chemists/technicians and production personnel on sampling, testing, process controls, documentation and quality awareness.

Education

B.E./B.Tech/ Diploma in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent.

Experience:

About 4-12 years of relevant experience in dry mix mortar, construction chemicals, cementitious products or allied building-material manufacturing, including at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial QA/QC role. Hands-on plant and laboratory experience is essential.

Technical knowledge:

Strong knowledge of dry mix mortar raw materials, cement chemistry & polymers. Working knowledge of applicable IS/EN/ASTM governing and testing standards for dry mix products; understanding of ISO 9001, calibration, traceability, OOS investigation, CAPA and statistical process control.

Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; customer complaint investigation and site-level technical communication; disciplined documentation; root-cause analysis and decision-making based on test data; laboratory and team management; ability to coordinate effectively with Production, R&D, Purchase, Sales/Technical Services and suppliers. Good written and verbal communication in English and Hindi; Marathi is an advantage.
