Job summary

Kosamba Glass Deco in Gujarat, India seeks a Quality Inspector to perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of packaging materials and corrugated boxes. You will verify GSM, strength tests, dimensions, printing quality, and adhere to customer specifications and internal SOPs.

You will maintain inspection and test reports, drive root-cause analyses using 5 Why and Fishbone tools, and coordinate corrective actions with Production and other teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in corrugated packaging inspection and QA systems.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 quality management concepts.
• Proficient in MS Excel and quality documentation practices.
• Knowledge of 5S, QC tools (Fishbone, 5 Why) and CAPA processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct incoming inspection of packaging raw materials (paper, kraft paper, board, adhesives, ink, tapes).
• Perform in-process and final inspection of corrugated boxes per specs and standards.
• Check critical parameters: GSM, burst strength, ECT, BCT, Cobb value, moisture, dimensions, printing quality, and alignment.
• Inspect corrugation-related parameters: flute formation, bonding, warpage, delamination, board strength.
• Ensure compliance with customer specs, drawings, samples, and internal standards.
• Identify non-conforming material and coordinate with Production for corrective action.
• Prepare inspection reports, test reports, rejection/rework records and quality docs.
• Perform root-cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA, etc.
• Monitor internal rejection, customer complaints, rework, and defects; drive improvements.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Purchase and R&D/NPD for issue resolution.
• Support customer complaint analysis and closure within timelines.
• Ensure calibration and maintenance of QC lab/testing instruments.
• Maintain quality records and support audits (internal, customer, third-party).
• Comply with quality systems, SOPs, instructions, and safety requirements.
• Provide training and awareness to operators on quality requirements and defect prevention.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and reduce variation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct incoming inspection of packaging raw materials such as paper, kraft paper, board, adhesive, ink, tapes and other related materials.
• Perform in-process and final inspection of corrugated boxes and packaging materials as per approved specifications and quality standards.
• Check critical parameters such as:
  • GSM and paper quality
  • Bursting Strength (BF/BS)
  • Edge Crush Test (ECT)
  • Box Compression Test (BCT)
  • Cobb value
  • Moisture content
  • Ply / flute configuration
  • Dimensions and thickness
  • Printing quality, colour and registration
  • Creasing, slotting, die‑cutting and pasting quality
• Inspect corrugation‑related parameters including flute formation, bonding, warpage, delamination and board strength.
• Ensure products comply with customer specifications, drawings, approved samples and internal quality standards.
• Identify and segregate non-conforming material/products and coordinate with Production for corrective action.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, test reports, rejection/rework records and quality documentation.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for quality issues using 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA and other problem‑solving tools.
• Monitor and reduce internal rejection, customer complaints, rework and process defects.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Purchase and R&D/NPD teams for resolution of quality‑related issues.
• Support customer complaint analysis and closure within defined timelines.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of QC laboratory/testing instruments.
• Maintain quality records and support internal, customer and third‑party audits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality systems, SOPs, work instructions and safety requirements.

Required Technical Knowledge

• Good knowledge of corrugated box manufacturing and packaging processes.
• Knowledge of paper, kraft paper, corrugated board and packaging materials.
• Understanding of 5S, 7 QC Tools, CAPA, RCA, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis.
• Knowledge of quality testing equipment and methods used for corrugated packaging.
• Basic understanding of ISO 9001 / Quality Management System.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.
