Job summary

Metso India in Alwar, Rajasthan seeks a Vendor Quality Engineer – Repair & ARF to ensure vendor repairs meet procedures, specs and customer requirements through inspections and control. You will reduce rework, prevent quality escapes, and support timely repair turnaround.

The role covers stage inspections, dimensional and NDT testing, and close collaboration with vendors, sourcing, engineering and repair operations to drive quality improvements. Willingness to travel extensively is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with practical QA/QC exposure.
• Hands-on vendor quality assurance and development experience.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, welding inspection, metrology, repair methods.
• Experience with non-destructive testing methods and inspection processes.
• Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and MS Excel; SAP/Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections at vendor facilities to ensure compliance with procedures and specs.
• Perform stage-wise inspections, repair assessment, scope validation, and final inspection before dispatch.
• Monitor welding, rebuilding, cladding, metal spray, fabrication and heat treatment per procedures.
• Conduct and witness dimensional inspections and NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT, hardness).
• Review repair docs, reports, deviation reports and test records for completeness and compliance.
• Identify quality deviations, drive corrective actions and close punch points prior to dispatch.
• Conduct vendor quality audits and assess vendor performance to improve turnaround.
• Investigate repair failures and customer complaints; perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Introduction

We are looking for a Vendor Quality Engineer – Repair & ARF to join our Quality team. In this role, you will ensure that repair jobs executed at vendor locations comply with approved repair procedures, engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements through effective inspection, process control, and timely intervention. You will play a key role in reducing rework, preventing quality escapes, and supporting timely repair turnaround.

This role is based in Alwar, Rajasthan, with extensive travel to vendor locations as required.

You will join a team of quality professionals focused on repair quality, vendor quality assurance, inspection, and continuous improvement. The team plays a key role in ensuring reliable repair outcomes and meeting customer requirements through strong quality control across the repair process.

You will collaborate closely with vendors, sourcing, engineering, repair operations, and other internal stakeholders. Our ways of working emphasize accountability, collaboration, quality ownership, and getting things done together.

What you’ll do

• Conduct regular inspections at vendor facilities and ensure compliance with approved repair procedures, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Perform stage-wise inspections, repair assessment, scope validation, and final inspection before dispatch.
• Monitor welding, rebuilding, cladding, metal spray, fabrication, and heat treatment activities in line with approved procedures.
• Conduct and witness dimensional inspections and non-destructive testing activities, including UT, MT, PT, RT, and hardness testing.
• Review repair documentation, inspection reports, deviation reports, dimensional reports, and test records for completeness and compliance.
• Identify quality deviations, drive corrective actions, and ensure closure of inspection punch points before dispatch.
• Conduct vendor quality audits, assess vendor performance, and support vendor development initiatives to improve quality and turnaround time.
• Investigate repair failures and customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

What you’ll bring

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5–8 years of experience in QA/QC, heavy engineering, mining equipment, crusher components, slurry pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, or repair facilities.
• Hands‑on experience in vendor quality assurance and vendor development.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, welding inspection, dimensional metrology, and repair methodologies.
• Practical knowledge of non‑destructive testing techniques and inspection processes.
• Experience in root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and proficiency in MS Excel; exposure to SAP and Power BI is preferred.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with vendors, sourcing, engineering, and repair operations teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively to vendor locations and take timely quality decisions during critical breakdown repair situations.
