Job summary

Metso is seeking a Senior Quality Inspection Engineer – Mechanical for the MEI organization to lead supplier-end inspection activities, ensuring components, assemblies, and finished products meet engineering and customer requirements. You will report to the Assistant Manager and be based onsite in Nagpur, India, with a focus on continuous improvement across inspection processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive hands‑on experience in mechanical quality inspection within manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Expert ability to interpret mechanical drawings, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
• Proficiency in using inspection and measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines, and surface testing tools.
• Strong understanding of inspection documentation, quality control plans, inspection checklists, and quality management system requirements.
• Experience using structured problem‑solving and quality reporting methodologies, including 8D, 5 Whys, and cause‑and‑effect analysis.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross ‑functional stakeholders to resolve quality issues and achieve results.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of fabricated, machined, and assembled mechanical components and finished products using appropriate inspection and measurement techniques.
• Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance plans and inspection processes.
• Document non-conformances and support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive action activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain quality documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across inspection activities and the broader quality management system.

Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Quality Inspection Engineer – Mechanical to join our Quality Inspection team in the Market Area Middle East and India (MEI) organization. In this role, you will lead supplier-end mechanical inspection activities, ensuring components, assemblies, and finished products meet engineering, quality, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement across inspection and quality processes. You will report to Assistant Manager, Quality, Sourcing & Procurement, and the role location is Nagpur, India, onsite working model.

You will join our Quality Inspection team, which is responsible for verifying supplier quality, supporting manufacturing compliance, and ensuring products meet defined specifications and industry standards. The team plays an important role in maintaining quality performance, supporting sourcing activities, and enabling reliable project execution. The team collaborates closely with engineering, sourcing, suppliers, and quality stakeholders to address quality concerns, support inspections, and drive corrective actions. Team members are based in Gurugram, India, and work together to support quality objectives across the Market Area MEI organization.
