Job summary

Kirloskar Brothers Limited is seeking a qualified QA engineer to manage special project QA activities for Defence and Navy-related orders. You will study QAPs, prepare test procedures, and ensure customer approvals are obtained while maintaining all approved documents.

The role requires expertise in NDE, metallurgical processes, and adherence to ASME/ASTM codes, with strong communication for effective coordination with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of metallurgy and manufacturing methods such as forgings and castings.
• Familiarity with codes and standards e.g. ASME, ASTM, IS, EN.
• Knowledge of NDE and welding activities.
• NDE Level II certification (LPE, RT, UT).

Responsibilities

• Study and preparation of QAP and Test procedures as per tender specification and get customer approval.
• Carry out failure analysis.
• Suggest heat treatment cycles for materials of development orders.
• Plan and complete all inspection activities of project orders in line with manufacturing.

Job description

Purpose of the role

• To handle all special project QA activities for various BARC, NPCIL, and Indian Navy projects.
• Ensure Quality Requirements as per the approved documents & code requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Study and preparation of QAP and Test procedures as per tender specification and get approval of customer as per requirement. Circulation to all concern
• Carrying out failure analysis
• Study and suggest Heat Treatment cycles for Materials of development orders.
• Plan and complete all the inspection activities of project order in line with manufacturing activities.
• Preparation of inspection reports and certification from customer. Maintain all the approved documents by Customer.
• Raise inspection call at various stages like raw material, components, and assembly to customer as per QAP.
• Study of Process & QA activities, identify gaps & develop new systems to improve productivity through process/product audits. Conduct root cause analysis
• Raise, Review and Close Non-conformances. Raising the deviation proposals, Non Conformance Report in customer approved format, Follow up with Customers for approval of deviation proposal and timely closure of NCR. Participation in Kaizen.
• Carrying out in process inspections like balancing of individual components and rotors, Hydro testing of pressure retaining components, Helium Leak testing.
• Visit to Vendor for witness of various tests like chemical, mechanical, Micro, IGC, Macro, Bend Test Hydro and NDE Inspection
• Preparation of Route Cards on the basis of Manufacturing Process Plan. Review of Material test certificates received from vendor, preparation of Receiving Inspection Reports& gets it approved from customer.
