Job description
The Quality Assurance Engineer II is responsible for independently planning, designing, and executing comprehensive test strategies across product features.
The role combines strong manual testing with growing automation ownership, ensures adherence to quality SLAs, and proactively identifies risks throughout the development lifecycle.
This position is expected to mentor junior QA engineers, champion best practices, and drive improvements in QA processes and tooling.
Contribute to defining quality standards, acceptance criteria, and automation strategy for product teams. Identify quality risks early and propose mitigation plans across product squads. Drive adoption of shift-left testing and influence test-first culture within engineering.
Own end-to-end test planning and execution including functional, regression, integration, usability, and automated test suites.
Write high-quality, comprehensive test cases and test data strategies.
Develop, enhance, and maintain automated tests using Selenium, Appium, or Cypress. Integrate and optimize test frameworks within CI/CD pipelines.
Monitor quality metrics, analyze gaps, and take proactive action before releases.
Facilitate QA ceremonies: test planning, daily syncs, retrospectives and ensure testing progress is visible. Communicate release confidence levels and environment health to stakeholders. Support triaging production issues and improve test scenarios based on real-world failures.
Mentor QA1 engineers in test design, execution techniques, and tool usage.
Provide constructive feedback to peers on quality standards. Lead small knowledge-sharing sessions, QA guild meetings, or tool walkthroughs. Continuously improve QA workflows to reduce cycle time and enhance coverage.
Identify redundant tests, optimize test suites, and increase automation ROI.
Propose product or process improvements based on defect patterns and production analytics. Experience in fast-paced product development environments. Exposure to testing mobile + web platforms.
Maintain test dashboards and ensure documentation is up-to-date. Quality of test plans and automation stability.
Reduction in escaped defects / post-release incidents. Adherence to quality SLAs (coverage, execution time, defect cycle). Contribution to QA process improvements. Mentorship impact on QA1 engineers. Balancing automation development with release deadlines.
Managing end-to-end ownership across multiple features. Identifying risks in ambiguous or rapidly changing requirements.
Ensuring quality at speed during rapid iteration cycles.
