Job summary

Nemetschek Group seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer for SDS2, our structural steel detailing software. The role targets hands-on steel detailing or fabrication experience to improve software quality and user outcomes.

You will design, execute, and maintain tests for SDS2, build GUI automation with Eggplant, and validate features and fixes against realistic detailing workflows within an agile team environment.

We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to help ensure the reliability and performance of SDS2, our structural steel detailing software. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑ons steel detailing or fabrication experience who wants to apply that knowledge to improve software quality and user outcomes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

• Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated tests for SDS2.
• Develop and expand GUI-based automated test suites using Eggplant.
• Validate new features, bug fixes, and releases against real-world detailing and fabrication workflows.
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and UX to define acceptance criteria and improve test coverage.
• Reproduce, document, and prioritize defects with clear, actionable detail.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tooling, and release quality.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

• Experience in structural steel detailing or fabrication (SDS2 experience strongly preferred).
• Solid understanding of detailing workflows, shop drawings, and fabrication processes.
• Experience with software QA practices, including test case design and defect tracking.
• Familiarity with GUI test automation tools (Eggplant preferred, others acceptable).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to think through edge cases and real-world usage.
• Comfortable working in an agile, cross-functional team environment.
• Willingness to overlap with EST/CST hours
• Problem-solving mindset and analytical thinking with a focus on continuous improvement.

SKILLS PREFERRED:

• Experience with CAD/BIM software (e.g., Tekla, Advance Steel, Revit).
• Basic scripting or programming experience (Python or similar).
• Experience testing complex engineering or manufacturing software.
