Job summary

Visaka Industries Ltd in Mouda, Nagpur is seeking an Assistant Manager/Manager-QC to lead the Quality Control function of the Textile Division, overseeing quality systems, testing, certifications and customer complaint analysis.

You will supervise QC staff, ensure calibration of testing instruments, conduct plant rounds and drive corrective actions to meet mill standards, with emphasis on documentation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Monitor raw material, process, yarn and finished-goods test reports; identify deviations and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Ensure all testing instruments and equipment are calibrated and maintained; coordinate with maintenance/service engineers for breakdowns and calibration.
• Review shift logbooks, previous-shift activities and allocate work to QC staff as per the daily schedule.
• Conduct regular plant rounds and quality checks covering machines, card web quality, draft zones, winding systems, tension, spindles and other critical parameters.
• Identify abnormal quality variations at machine/spindle level and coordinate with Production and Maintenance for immediate corrective action.
• Prepare daily comparative quality reports for new lots against previous lots and ensure all parameters meet defined mill standards.
• Monitor QCD studies, special trials, R&D samples and quality improvement studies and maintain records for long-term analysis.
• Prepare and maintain export and domestic customer test reports, test certificates and other quality documentation as required.
• Analyze customer complaints, including fabric/yarn samples, prepare complaint analysis reports and coordinate corrective actions with concerned departments.
• Monitor shade variation and Delta E values and take decisions on acceptance, segregation or further processing of doubtful material.
• Monitor quality of material from breakdown machines, segregate affected material and maintain records to identify recurring machine-related problems.
• Prepare and execute half-yearly machine audit schedules from Blow Room to Winding, submit audit reports and ensure closure of observations.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Systems, 5S and applicable standards/certification requirements.
• Guide, coach and develop subordinate QC staff through technical training, performance evaluation and competency improvement programes.
• Maintain proper records of training programes and coordinate with HR for documentation.

Key Authority

• Approve/pass lots within defined quality limits.
• Stop spindles, deliveries or machines where quality correction is required.
• Communicate quality results and parameters to internal departments and Head Office.
• Issue yarn test certificates for customer dispatches.
• Call authorized service engineers for troubleshooting/calibration under AMC.
• Issue required spares from Stores and provide minor work/discipline-related warnings.

Key Interfaces

Internal: R&D, Production, Mixing, RMD, Maintenance Process/Electrical/Mechanical, Stores, Packing and other plant functions.
External: Testing-equipment suppliers, calibration/service agencies and technical partners.
