Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform inspection and surveillance of structural fabrication, assembly, fit-up, erection and welding activities in Tamil Nadu, India. You will verify drawings, ITPs and standards, witness tests, and maintain comprehensive quality records.

Role requires coordination with production, engineering, NDT, welding, and client representatives, with emphasis on documentation, NCR handling, and adherence to HSE during all activities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural fabrication, assembly, fit-up, erection, and welding activities.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, ITPs, procedures, and standards.
• Conduct dimensional inspections of fabricated structures and verify tolerances.
• Inspect fabrications for fit-up, alignment, bevel preparation and weld prep.
• Verify material identification, traceability, and certificates per project requirements.
• Witness and document inspection and testing in accordance with ITPs.
• Monitor fabrication activities to meet quality requirements at all stages.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, NDT, welding and client reps during inspections.
• Review welding records, NDT reports, dimensional reports, and quality docs.
• Raise NCRs and monitor corrective/preventive actions.
• Participate in client and third-party inspections, audits and quality surveillance.
• Maintain inspection records, punch lists, quality reports, and inspection registers.
• Support compilation of MRB, Quality Dossiers, and turnover documentation.
• Verify preservation, handling, storage, and transportation for fabricated structures.
• Monitor compliance with quality procedures, project requirements and client specs.
• Promote adherence to HSE during inspection and quality control activities.
• Support continual improvement initiatives related to structural fabrication quality.

Job description

• Conduct dimensional inspections of fabricated structures and verify compliance with approved tolerances.
• Inspect structural fit-up, alignment, bevel preparation, weld preparation, and assembly activities.
• Verify material identification, traceability, material certificates, and compliance with project requirements.
• Witness and document inspection and testing activities in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Monitor fabrication activities and ensure quality requirements are achieved at all stages of production.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, NDT, welding, and client representatives during inspections.
• Review welding records, NDT reports, dimensional reports, and quality documentation.
• Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in client inspections, third-party inspections, audits, and quality surveillance activities.
• Maintain inspection records, punch lists, quality reports, and inspection registers.
• Support compilation of Manufacturing Record Books (MRB), Quality Dossiers, and project turnover documentation.
• Verify preservation, handling, storage, and transportation requirements for fabricated structures.
• Monitor compliance with quality procedures, project requirements, and client specifications.
• Promote adherence to HSE requirements during inspection and quality control activities.
• Support continual improvement initiatives related to structural fabrication quality and project quality performance.
