Job summary

THERMAX in PAN India Site is seeking a Site Engineer QAC with 10-15 years of experience in boiler erection QA/QC. You will oversee inspection activities at boiler erection sites, coordinating with clients, vendors, and TPI agencies.

Requires BE Mechanical or Diploma (DME), strong knowledge of IBR 1950, ASME, and welding and NDT methods; willingness to travel across India, with 12-hour site shifts and leadership responsibilities for site quality engineers.

Qualifications

• QA/QC processes for boiler erection and heater erection.
• Knowledge of IBR 1950, AWS D1.1, ASME Sec-I/IX/V.
• Welding inspection knowledge; CWI or CSWIP add-on is beneficial.
• NDT certification ISNT/ASNT II in RT/PT/MT/VT/UT.
• Liaison with clients and authorities for IMIR clearance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee independent inspection at boiler erection sites.
• Inspect pressure parts, boiler structure, bought outs, and refractory.
• Prepare inspection documentation and reporting for HO/TPI.
• Coordinate with clients, erection vendors, and TPI agencies.
• Ensure HSE compliance and OTP adherence on site.

Brief Job Description

To handle independently the overall inspection activities at Boiler erection sites for

• Pressure parts like Boiler Drum, Boiler furnace water wall panels, Coils, Header, Piping, Risers, Down comers, Pressure vessels, Tanks,
• Boiler structural like Column, Beams, Bracing, Girders, Stack, Ducting
• Bought outs inspection like Fan, Pumps, Valves, Dosing skids.
• Refractory

Critical Competencies of the job

Functional:

• Conversant with all the QA/QC processes of Boiler Erection, Heater Erection.
• Sound knowledge of codes like IBR 1950, AWS D1.1, ASME Sec-I, ASME Sec. IX, ASME Sec V.
• Knowledge of codes and standards of boiler Erection, statutory requirements, inspection methods, tolerances. Responsible for Boiler Mechanical installations at site.
• Quality management system and proficiency in welding processes like SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW
• Certification as welding Inspector, i.e., CWI or CSWIP will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of WPS, PQR, WPQ, preparation of welding Schedule.
• Knowledge of Site Inspection Plan Preparation as per tender specification requirements & obtaining approvals from customers.
• An ISO Internal auditor will be an added advantage.
• NDT Certification like ISNT / ASNT level II in RT, PT, MT, VT, and UT in nondestructive testing is required.
• Knowledge of heat treatment, hydraulic testing, Co-ordination & working with Customer & TPI agencies, Preparation of reporting Management information System to HO.
• Shall be strongly conversant in Boiler erection processes and providing technical advice and solving problems at site.
• Ensure construction quality as per Field ITP, drawings, and standards. Inspection documentation prepared on daily basis and certification from TPI/customer.
• Liaison with clients, statutory authorities for IMIR clearance of all material receipt at site
• Work experience in refineries / petrochemical industries.
• Ensure process improvement & developmental work.
• Leading the team of Site quality engineers and adhering to OTP.
• Ensuring HSE compliance.
• Liaison with IBR statutory authorities & Client for Boiler Assembly Mechanical completion.
• Team players of Site execution include erection subcontractors, other professional staff.
