Job summary

Impelsys in Bengaluru, India is seeking a QA Engineer to own quality end-to-end for features, blending manual and automation testing. You will shape test strategy, build and maintain automation, and mentor junior team members while partnering with engineering and product to prevent defects.

The role requires strong experience in both manual and automated testing, with opportunities to step into senior or lead positions as the team scales. Contract: 6 months, on-site in Bengaluru.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software testing with strong manual and automation skills.
• Deep understanding of SDLC/STLC and Agile/Scrum.
• Experience building or contributing to automation frameworks using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on API testing and automation (Postman, REST Assured, or similar).
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Proficiency with Git and version control workflows.
• Solid SQL skills for data validation and backend verification.
• Experience with Jira and test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, Xray).
• Excellent communication and ability to explain risks to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own test strategy and planning for modules or product areas from requirement analysis through release.
• Design, write, and review test cases, scenarios, and test data for complex requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI and API testing.
• Drive automation coverage and reduce flaky tests.
• Perform API testing and automation including authentication, schemas, and error handling.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and monitor results.
• Conduct exploratory, regression, integration, and cross-browser/device testing.
• Perform basic performance and security checks and collaborate with specialists.
• Triage defects, perform root cause analysis, and work with developers to resolve issues quickly.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and review their work; track quality metrics.

Role : QA Engineer

Contract- 6 months

We are looking for a QA Engineer with 2-4 years of experience who can own the quality of features end to end. Youll go beyond executing test cases: youll shape test strategy, build and maintain automation frameworks, mentor junior team members, and partner with engineering and product to prevent defects rather than just find them. This role suits someone who is strong in both manual and automation testing and is ready to step into a senior or lead position.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the test strategy and planning for assigned modules or product areas, from requirement analysis through release
• Design, write, and review test cases, scenarios, and test data for complex functional and non-functional requirements
• Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI and API testing
• Drive automation coverage by identifying high-value test candidates and reducing flaky tests
• Perform in-depth API testing and automation, including validation of authentication, schemas, and error handling
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and monitor results
• Conduct exploratory, regression, integration, and cross-browser/cross-device testing
• Perform basic performance and security checks, and collaborate with specialists where needed
• Triage defects, perform root cause analysis, and work with developers to resolve issues quickly
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and design reviews, giving early testability and risk feedback
• Mentor junior QA engineers and review their work
• Track and report quality metrics such as defect leakage, test coverage, and automation percentage
• Lead release readiness checks and sign-off for production deployments

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in software testing, with strong exposure to both manual and automation
• Deep understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum practices
• Proven experience building or significantly contributing to automation frameworks using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Hands-on API testing and automation (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
• Proficiency with Git and version control workflows
• Solid SQL skills for data validation and backend verification
• Experience with Jira and test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, Xray)
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain risks and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling)
• Knowledge of security testing and the OWASP Top 10
• Exposure to BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, or containerized test environments
• Experience with mobile testing and device farms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs)
• Understanding of microservices architecture and contract testing (Pact)
• Experience in test data management and environment setup
• ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level certification
• Bachelors degree in computer science, IT, or a related field
