Job summary

Utrade Solutions in Mohali is seeking a Software QA Tester to ensure quality across web applications. You will participate in STLC, design test cases, execute tests, and collaborate with developers and business analysts.

The role also includes API testing with Postman, SQL database validation (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB), cross‑browser testing, and active Agile/Scrum participation to support robust release validation.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in Software Testing/QA.
• Strong understanding of Manual Testing, SDLC, STLC, and defect lifecycle; basic programming in Java/Python is a plus.
• Experience testing web applications; exposure to mobile testing (Android/iOS) preferred.
• Hands-on in Functional, Regression, Smoke, Sanity, Retesting, and UI Testing.
• Knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Ability to create and execute test cases and test scenarios.
• Working knowledge of Jira or similar defect-tracking tools.
• Basic REST API testing with Postman.
• Familiarity with AI tools in QA preferred.
• Experience or understanding of FinTech/trading apps an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements, workflows, and acceptance criteria before testing.
• Participate in the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) including planning, design, execution, and release validation.
• Design, maintain, and execute test cases and scenarios (positive, negative, boundary, edge cases).
• Perform Functional, UI, Smoke, Sanity, Regression, Retesting, and Ad-hoc Testing.
• Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects with steps and evidence.
• Perform API testing using Postman, validating requests, responses, and status codes.
• Validate databases with SQL queries on PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
• Test web apps across browsers and environments; perform release validation.
• Collaborate with Developers and BAs to investigate defects and clarify requirements.
• Coordinate with Deployment during release and production validation activities.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and QA activities.
• Contribute to test coverage and QA processes improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements, application workflows, and acceptance criteria before starting testing.
• Participate in the complete Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), including test planning, test case design, execution, defect reporting, retesting, and release validation.
• Design, maintain, and execute test cases and test scenarios, including positive, negative, boundary, and edge-case scenarios.
• Perform Functional, UI, Smoke, Sanity, Regression, Retesting, and Ad-hoc Testing.
• Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects with clear steps, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
• Perform API testing using Postman, including validation of requests, responses, status codes, and data.
• Perform database validation and testing using SQL queries, with exposure to databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB.
• Test web applications across supported browsers and environments.
• Perform release validation and ensure critical application workflows are functioning as expected.
• Collaborate with Developers and Business Analysts to investigate defects and clarify requirements.
• Coordinate with the Deployment team during release and production validation activities when required.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint-level QA activities.
• Contribute to improving test coverage, QA processes, and overall testing efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1 - 2 years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Assurance.
• Strong understanding of Manual Testing, SDLC, STLC, and defect lifecycle.
  Basic programming or scripting knowledge in Java, Python, or a similar language is an advantage.
• Experience testing web applications; exposure to mobile application testing (Android/iOS) is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in Functional, Regression, Smoke, Sanity, Retesting, and UI Testing.
  Should have knowledge of database (SQL, mysql, Postgres sql, mongoDB),
• Ability to create and execute effective test cases and test scenarios.
• Working knowledge of Jira or similar defect-tracking tools.
• Basic hands-on experience with REST API testing using Postman.
• Familiarity with the use of AI tools in Quality Assurance is preferred.
• Experience or understanding of FinTech, financial markets, or trading applications is an added advantage.
